Sunshine1566 3 Posted February 5, 2013 My name is Teresa, I have always struggled with my weight, yoyo dieting, diet pills, various programs. I am what I would call a stress eater. Use food as my crutch. When happy, sad, mad, food always made it better. Finally at 47, 5'2'' 211 lbs, decided to get sleeved. After some research, I chose Dr. Guillermo Alvarez in Mexico. He is awsome. On Jan 5th, had my surgery, am now down 23 lbs. I've been at 23 for a week, I'm learning that is normal. I've decided not to weigh often. At first I felt so elated but lately I've gotten a case of the blues. Someone tell me if this is normal. Today is first day back on regular food. I am learning that is gonna be a process. Just know I have to chew well and eat very slowly. I have no regrets. I am so glad I did this but I guess mentally can't quite wrap my mind around the fact that it really is going to come off and stay off this time! It is truly a mental journey as well as physical. Any words of encouragement are welcome! Got the Protein and supplements down now. Just gotta shake these blues! Best wishes to all you who share this journey with me. If you haven't taken the plunge yet, log onto endobrariatrics.com and check out Dr. Alvarez, he is top notch!
theoklahoman 9 Posted February 14, 2013 It takes getting used to not eating a huge plate of food and sometimes a little frustrating because you want MORE. lol . You have to begin a new way of thinking as it relates to food. I am 5 months out and I want more sometimes but also find it rewarding that I can't eating like I used to. Know I now have this tool that will keep me in check and help me lose weight and be able to maintain it. Stalls will come. I have lost 96 lbs but have been at a stall for about a month. I have seem myself go down another couple pounds this past week. They will come but the weight loss will start again in time. Just think we didn't eat ourselves to the weight we got to in months it took years so we just have to be patient with it coming back off. Overall I wouldn't change anything. Best thing I have ever done.
