My tipping point was watching my coworkers gain weight instead of lose with their bands. One in particular - I've lost more since November on my pre-op diet than she has in 4 years. I decided I'm not disciplined enough for the band. Seeing her workarounds I could see myself following in her footsteps. The sleeve in my mind is more restrictive and I'm sure there is some percentage of failure with it too, but from what I've seen its far more successful long term. I'm not sure I like how drastic it seems - that they remove part of the stomach, but I like even less that I am so heavy now and not really liking myself these days.
