Post-op care seattle wa

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! Im getting close to setting my surgery date (waiting on when the best time to take off work will be) and my one of me concerns is after care. I have no insurance and no normal PCP so I really am looking for advise from someone in my area that has one already who is used to caring for us self-pay TJ people :)

I don't know any surgeons who do aftercare for self care patients. However, I do know that Franciscan Center for Weight Management (Federal Way) is a BCE and they offer monthly support groups (in FW at St. Francis and in Lakewood at St. Claire). You could see about going to those support groups or, if you call around and find a surgeon for long-term after care they might have other support groups.

I echo what oneless said... St Francis Center for Weight Management folks are wonderful and at least at Federal way have support groups you can join. As for PCP... I don't have one anymore, they kept moving away! So I have been using a CarePlus clinic for care. They are mostly urgent care but mine is happy to act as PCP and will be doing follow up labs and other monitoring as needed. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
