Gym cost !

Recommended Posts

I hear people on here complaining about gym cost, the funny part is I guarantee you used to eat out and spend as much for one meal as it cost to join a gym for a month plus how much are you saving by eating less?

So stop complaining and GET-R-DONE!!!

We all got this way for a reason!!!

For me, the cost of a gym membership only hurts when I am not using it the way I should. If I am paying whatever amount of dollars (usually not more than 40 dollars a month for the 24 hour fitness SuperSport - the best gym in my area) if I am using it - I don't care one bit.

I got kicked out of a Planet Fitness once, was good times had by all involved.

I currently have memberships at 2 different gyms, it's a pain sometimes. I had 3 at one time, the 3rd being sponsored, but that gym closed their doors recently and the other took up my partial sponsorship, a large bodybuilder/powerlifting gym. My other is at 24 hour fitness, which I use mostly for the steam room, cardio and the fact I can go at 2-3am whenever I want to and get in a good workout without driving an hour in the middle of the night to open the other gym.

It all comes down to perspective, food costs versus gym costs, and how bad the person wants it. It's understandable if you're barely squeaking by, but there are plenty of gyms out there these days that are cheaper, planet fitness for one is a good gym just to have access to equipment, and anytime fitness isn't all too bad either. I think my 24 hour membership is around $60, and that includes my wife as a 2nd member. Give up that chai latte one day a week, that's $5 a week, $20 a month you could be putting towards a better, healthier thing in your life. you just have to be willing to go through with the removal of certain things and willing to give up what you don't need to get where you want to get.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
