Kathy2 0 Posted November 12, 2006 Hi everyone, I have been doing some reading on this site and it looks like a lot of you have had tremendous success with the lap band. I just recently started thinking about this for myself. My main problem is with exercising after the surgery. I cannot exercise because of a condition I have, peripheral and sensory neuropathy. Perhaps this would change after I lost quite a bit of weight, I do not know. Do any of you have any experience with this? Thanks and you are all miracles. :help:
GayleTX 1 Posted November 12, 2006 I have diabetic neuropahty in my feet and left hand. Don't know if that's similar. Do know it's painful and makes me very clumsy, sometimes worse than others, almost always numb. Could hardly walk from the car to the gym door. But after about 30 lbs I started being able to walk better, by 60 lbs down, I could walk a mile. Haven't been able to go farther than that because it makes my feet hurt, not because of stamina. That is the only exercise I've tried other than stretching, warm-ups, etc because I'm still quite heavy. But things are so much better it's unbelievable...and you worded it very nicely - I do indeed feel like a walking miracle!!!
Kathy2 0 Posted November 12, 2006 Thank you for sharing. My neuropathy is from diabetis. It is located in my legs from my thighs down. It is constantly painful and I rely on narcotics to tolerate the pain. I intend on reserching my options and I hope the lap band is an open option. Keep up your positive journey.
