How are you? For some reason there is little activity in this group and I feel really sadden by this because I know there are people out there going through and having good and bad experiences and I for one would like to be active in this group. Tell me your story?

I'm feeling a bit fustrated. I have been working on consuming more Protein via shakes and supplements. My NUT told me she doesn't want me drinking my calories, I'm confused because I was under the impression I would have to be on a liquid diet pre and post op. I was doing so well, getting natural raw nutrients and Protein into my diet, now she has thrown me off. I felt great, now I'm confused. I don't like eating meat (I'm not a vegetarian), nor dairy....so, the shake is the best alternative for me to obtain protein. Any suggestions? I am trying to lose weight prior to the surgery, so far no luck. :-(

The shakes are good but if you can ready your Protein that will help keep you full longer and shower digesting. Your body can only absorb so much protein at a time. Which may be why you aren't losing right now. It is frustrating but listen to your NUT, you'll get there.

Patva

It great hearing from you. What are you doing different to break our stall? I reviewed my intake log a realized I wasn't getting enough Protein daily. It took me two weeks to reach my conclusion. I started back loosing again. I've lost a total of 30 ibs to far. I also stopped weight every day only once a week.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
