Kammie726 8 Posted February 4, 2013 Before surgery I was taking a Fluid pill for excess fluid and to help with high blood pressure my BP is pretty normal now the dr told me not to take them anymore but I notice now I have swelling and excess fluid in my lower legs and feet I am however still on a beta blocker as my pluse is still very high (always has been even before I was over weight) anyone else experience this the surgeon taking you off meds but you are unsure ? happilysleeved 114 Posted February 4, 2013 Before my surgery in September, I was on a beta blocker with a diuretic in it. About two weeks before surgery my doctor had me go to just a straight beta blocker so as to not get dehydrated after. About 1 month out I went to my regular doctor and my BP was really low, so we cut the dose by 3/4. No swelling now and all numbers are good but the diuretic will definitely not help with your fluids or potassium levels.
