I see my cardiologist tomorrow for my yearly check-up and am supposed to have my cardiac clearance completed as well. What can I expect? I see my PCP on Thursday for my 6th visit and I also start my pre-op diet. Time is winding down and I hope that I will be prepared. Not nervous yet...

Yes that is who medically clears you ! That is a bery important part . They do a sonogram of ur heart . Then they do a stress test and put u in a treadmill n make u run then do the sono again . The reason they do this is to see how ur heart reacts to fiction

It depends. You mentioned that you have a yearly exam with your cardiologist, is there an underlying problem? I had to get clearance because I have mitro valve prolapse which has never affected my health, but as a precaution I was given a EKG and echocardiogram. I was not required to take a stress test.

I have mitral regurgitation also with heart palpitations and hypertension. Since my cardiologist already has run alot of tests, he just looked over my medical file, ran a EKG, and asked questions, then cleared me. I will tel u that I should have made a follow up appt to regulate my meds because I started getting very light headed after loosing about 40 lbs. and it takes forever to get into my cardiologist. I have to wait till feb 16th :(

I have mine the 12th, next week. I was told it'll be a stress test on a bike, some questions, and an EKG. Not too worried about it, had an EKG done last year (just because my PCP wanted to do it, there was no reason). Shouldn't be too awful bad. I'm more worried about my stomach exam thing than anything for some reason.

The cardiologist may require you to have a stress test. Good luck.

The cardiac clearance was a breeze! When I got there he had already sent over my clearance last month. They did an EKG which he said looked great and I am good to go. Last PCP appointment on Thursday! Getting excited...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
