Nausea H-E-double hockey sticks

Recommended Posts

I was going to say they should go to their doctor and ask for some sort of anti inflammatory medicine, be it steroids or an NSAID. It sounds like there is still swelling and that may be what is causing the nausea when drinking.

To all suffering through this I hope it gets better for you all soon. It is difficult for this of us who had no problems to believe that these things happen to people but they do and I feel so sorry for you all!

The doctor just prescribed me Phenergan on top of Zofran to help with the nausea. Anyone use that? I also got in for an appointment tomorrow. Wish me luck that I get some answers, and better yet some relief!

I had another EGD because they thought I might have had a stricture. Nope. When the doctor told me after the procedure that they didn't find nothing wrong, I broke down in tears. I wanted answers, but I was back to square one. :(. So, they started me on yet another med: Carafate. It supposed to coat my stomach to help with the nausea. I was able to get one Protein shake in, but the relief didn't last through the whole shake. Even the second dose didn't ease my stomach enough for another shake. But, they said it could take a week to really feel the effects. Not sure why the first dose worked.... Maybe more of a placebo effect, I guess.

Sorry you are so sick. I felt nauseous a good bit too - ritz crackers and tea were my life. It will get better! Good luck!

Been there, still there. I write this as I sit here trying to keep from vomiting my dinner. Each day seems like a rollercoaster ride for me (now hiccups). Some days I have good eating days, never any where I get all my required protein/fluids in, but days when I can at least keep food down. Then there are days like today, where it starts out badly and ends just as bad. I often feel like I am starving my body. Thankfully I have not had to go to the ER yet, but this is my greatest fear. I too feel like I made a mistake with this surgery - yes I wanted/needed to loose weight badly, I even prayed that my insurance company would approve this surgery. My weight and dieting has been up and down for years. I thought finally there is hope for me, but this experience has been like a nightmare. Everyone says it will get better, and I too wonder WHEN. I feel guilty for being so ungrateful, but I also have to be honest with myself. Now there is nothing that I can do except try and learn to deal with the decision I made. Learn to live with it. Happy to see the scales moving backwards, but at what cost I wonder.
