Surgeons in Lafayette, Louisiana Dr. Chu/Dr. Cunningham

Recommended Posts

Hi! I am new to this journey and I will be self pay. Has anyone used these doctors in Lafayette, Louisiana? I live in Denham Springs, Louisiana. I would love to connect with more people from this area also! My current weight is 245, and I would love to get down to 175. Anything extra would be a blessing!

Hi! I don't know about the doctors in Lafayette, my surgeon was in Lake Charles, and I love him. Thought I'd say hi though.

I am from Louisiana. I saw Dr. Chu in Lafayette last year but decided not to use her at that time because my insurance didn't cover the sleeve. However this year they do. I am in Alexandria and I am seeing Dr. Parrish. I have heard good things about their office and I have a cousin that will be getting sleeved there soon.

Yes, I did like her. I felt comfortable in the facility and liked the staff. They are very organized there and provide you with all the information you need. I think you would like it! Good luck!

Hi I'm scheduled 2/25 with Dr Thomas Borland in New Iberia. About 20 minutes outside Lafayette. If you are self pay it's $9800. I know about 15 friends that have went to him. All sing his praises. He's real nice.

Wow! Are you serious? How long does he keep you? The office in Lafayette charges 13,600. Does Dr. Borland makes you do all the testing? S far from what I am hearing I will only have to do bloodwork.

Dr. Bordland is 9800. Cash then you pay for your own blood work which is blood test and EKG . All my tests was 250. Then your consultation was 200. . The only thing you pay besides that is 2 nights at a hotel which I had a suit was 83.00 night . I schedule my consultation and in two weeks had my surgery .

Women and Children's Hospital in Lake Charles is a Bariatric Center of Excellence. Dr. Keith Chung is excellent. Google him and check out his credentials. Good luck!

I used dr Borland in new Iberia. No problems at all. Lost 60 lbs in 6 months. Mine was also $9800 with 200 consult. So it a $10000 dollar surgery. I'm so glad I did this!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
