I went with Obesity Control Center as it is an International Center of Excellence .. Dr. Ariel Ortiz. The price is in between the others that have been stated. I signed an agreement that I would disclose the price. You spend one night in the Clinic and 4 nights in the Mariott which includes' date=' chicken broth, popsicles, Water, etc. Excellent staff and care. He is located in Tijuana, Mexico. The Hotel shuttle takes you back and forth to the clinic and the OCC van takes you back and forth between the San Diego Airport or car in the United States if you drove. You go to the clinic every day for follow-ups while you are at the hotel. He gives you his cell phone number to call if you have any problems and tells you to call day or night.

I am still trying to decide which doctor to go with. So with Dr. Ortiz you stay at clinic one night and at hotel the other 4 nights? So how did that work out for you? Had you of rather have the extra night at a hospital or were you more comfortable at hotel. I am assuming someone was there close by in case you needed them or is there anything you need (if everything goes well). Thanks for the input. How are you feeling.?

I spent the night before at the Mariott, then surgery night at the Clinic, then the next 3 nights (I stayed an extra night due to flight schedule) at the Mariott. They provide you with cell phone numbers of the Drs. to call in case any problems arise and tell you to call day or night. One patient had a weird cramping and she called in the middle of the night. The Dr. had her come in the next morning before she left for a shot that took away the cramping. Anyhow, we then go to the clinic each day via the shuttle for a follow-up visit each day. I personally think I got better rest at the hotel vs. the clinic and just felt more relaxed: bigger bed, more room to spread out stuff, my own bathroom, less people bothering me etc.

I feel great. I go back to work and I will miss my naps.

My husband and I had our surgeries with Dr Quinones. I highly recommend him. He is very reasonably priced, around $4 - 4500 now.

Good luck! It's so worth it!

I had a revision 7 days ago, I went through Mexico bariatric.com and dr Cabrera and Venezuela were my dr. Their sleeve cost is $4,500 (revision was 5,600)includes air port shuttle to and from 3 night hotel and 2 nights hospital. Also accommodation for someone to come with you. You had a coordinator that meets you at the hotel and checks on you daily, he was the go between with the dr even though I saw them everyday in the hospital.

The care I received in Mexico is the best I've ever received, I've had multiple surgeries in the states. If you look into dr check out how many surgeries they do in a day, even you find the right one you'll just know.

Good luck

I'm getting sleeved with Dr Cabrea March 7th. Any advice? Did you like them?

Yes, I did. I had a wonderful experience from the dr to the hotel to the coordinator Daniel.

My advice, don't bring as many clothes as you think you'll need, I way over packed. Pay the $100 deposit for the DVD player at the marriot and bring movies.

If you have any other specific questions please ask.

I was sleeved on 1/24/13 in TJ by Dr Jose Rodriguez. Cost was $6800 and they do in house financing. You can put down $2500 and finance the rest. The website is www.beliteweight.com. Dr Rod has never had a patient with a leak which made me feel safer.

My experience was great and Im so thankful for the quality of care I received. I feel really good and have had no complications. 20lbs down!

My husband and I are Board Certified Family Practice physicians. We researched surgeons meticulously. We asked to see the CV's (resumes). Obesity Control Center has 2 surgeons, 1 Internal Medicine/Critical Care physician, Dr. Miranda is a physician/nutritionist, and 2 anesthesiologists. We both selected Obesity Control Center. We elected to have the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. The surgery was literally the easiest thing I have ever done. The pain was minimal. I had no nausea. We were very satisfied with our care. Dr. Ortiz has preformed hundreds of these surgeries.

Our daughter had the sleeve in Michigan by a highly recommended and she much more pain/nausea than we had.

I would suggest that you look closely at OCC. The decision is yours. You must select a surgeon that you have full confidence in and then proceed.

Good luck

Let us know where you decide to go and how your experience was.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
