Sleeve holds too much food

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 1/9 and I can eat more than normal...I cannot eat breads at all but I agree this is stupid and.I don't know if it was worth it...I do the Protein Shakes and stuff still and I'm hungry if I don't eat every 3 hrs. Granted I don't eat the amount I use too. I started at 238 and now 223 so I haven't lost nearly as much as anyone else I have heard....maybe I should join the no weightloss forum :)....hang in there your not alone!

Good job at eating every 3 hours. It keeps hunger at bay and, I believe, is a good way to keep the BMR in optimal shape during waking hours. No insulin crashes either. Ever.

Thanks "Angelamarie79" for starting this post and the others who have responded. I was sleeved on 1/18/13 and was feeling the same way as Angela. I was always hungry. I'm only eating about 1/4 cup (2 oz) of food at each sitting, but sometimes I feel like it isn't enough and I want more. I don't have more, but I want it. It was making me feel like I don't have that restriction that everyone else seems to have. I've asked my sister several times "are you sure the doctor cut my stomach?" Lol. She saw the pictures after my surgery.

The responses to this post have made me feel SO much better. This has been the best post I've read so far.

Hi:

Where is your Protein? These carbs are making you hungry. This is going to be the case for anyone even with the sleeve. Have a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch, you need to get at least 60 grams of protein in and probably more depending on your current size. Once you start eating solids you will feel the restriction. Try to stop worrying about losing weight and just trust that this operation is the best thing that you've done for your heath and it will work just as you wanted it to.

I love soft poached eggs smothered with Unjury's Protein cheese sauce or soft poached salmon + roasted veggies. When eating the liquid stuff I can put back alot more. Try having soft foods once in a while and don't eat till you're stuffed. If you watch the calorie content and roughly measure (6 small meals/day) you shouldn't be hungry all the time.

EG I can put back a massive thick shake full of protein, berries and spinach (fish oil, vit C powder, liquid Iron, greens powder, chia seeds and all of my nutrition stuff) but when it comes to an egg or salmon I can only eat a small quantity before becoming full. There's a difference and that's why you should count calories. Yoghurt and applesauce can be calorific if you're packing it back in large quantities. They are desert material and meant to be portioned.

My husband's doctor says that this has been debunked time and time again and he is allowed eggs (two daily) with the yolks of course.

Even I said that one or two egg yolks daily are all you should have, but to up your Protein intake you can safely take more egg whites. They have 3 grams of protein each with less than 20 calories in an egg white and they give quite a decent feeling of saturation for a long time.

Yea, there used to be lots of bad news about egg yolks, it's just not true. That's really where the omegas and all of the goodness is. But like anything, eggs in moderation right? There's no harm in 1-2/day but all that bunk about high cholesterol (my BIL still won't eat them-he had a cholesterol problem 10 year ago). It's all of the other crap he was eating to get his cholesterol up there. Pop, white bread, cheese sandwiches with mayo, burgers for lunch, fried takeout food, whiskey chasers to his 6 pack every weekend day. Then he cut out the eggs. Makes alot of sense hey?

Buddy' date=' I have felt the same and I am 3 months out. When you get to solid stage, there will be some respite in hunger. But do measure your food and do not eat egg yolk.[/quote']

Then your next quote was one a day, then you posted an article that says any will kill you (bad as a cigarette...though not an issue with fat as you posted as well) then the next says have a few...

Just an FYI that you might find beneficial: Not everything you read on the internet is true!

My fav Breakfast is red wine and jelly bellies....zero fat :P

But I suppose an egg will do heh heh

My vote is for coffee and jelly bellies. :)

And I can't eat a two egg scramble with two sausage links and I'm 2.5 years out AND pregnant! Each sleeve is not created equally, though my OB would be thrilled if mine had the capacity of Fiddleman's.

I remember a study when I was a kid about OJ being bad for us (as in, orange juice, not Simpson) but now it's touted as full of anti-oxidants and as a healthful food in moderation. A study can be performed to show everything is bad for us and a few weeks, months or years down the line we'll see a contradictory study. So hey, do what makes you happy and what you're comfortable with. The argument about cholesterol only affects you if you have a problem with cholesterol and comparing egg yolks to smoking is a ridiculous attempt to stir people up about nothing. I know people that can eat ANYTHING and have no cholesterol problems, while I also know folks that eat a pretty balanced diet and are fit that are on medications to control theirs. It's more up to genetics than anything, if you're not the person eating fast fried foods all day every day.

I eat the heck out of eggs AND yolks, because yolks are a great source of many Vitamins and nutrients lacking in my diet.

eggs are very nutritious. As with anything, moderation is the key. And who are more moderate eaters than people who are sleeved? No one! LOL

When I'm in the mood for eggs, I can only eat one and it's whole. I'm actually rather picky- only scrambled or omelet.

It varies everyone is different, I can eat a good amount of cream of wheat, because it really becomes liquid and goes right through. But any protien like chicken or beef I can't eat much. I am very aware when I eat too much. You'll be fine.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
