sleever10 109 Posted February 3, 2013 I went to the buffet at Whole Foods today and they charge by the pound. I grabbed some diced chicken breast that was meant to be a salad topping, a bit of cottage cheese and a tiny bit of quinoa. My lunch was $1.60! Makes more sense than going to a restaurant! Ms.AntiBand 2,984 Posted February 3, 2013 I went to costco, ate some deli meat, cheese, and greek yogurt samples. Free lunch... That's funny! I used to tell my kids.. Come on we're going to lunch and take them to costco for the samples. lol... It's still a family joke OP.. I used to stop at Whole Foods in the am and grab a salad to take to work. I love their cubed chicken. Not sure how they cook it, but find it yummy. I'm not ready to eat salad yet, but I agree that it's a great deal.
lsereno 2,525 Posted February 3, 2013 Early out when you can't eat much, salad bars can be a great deal, even if you don't want "salad". They often have cubed meats, chopped eggs, and grated cheese. Bigger ones have cooked veggies, cottage cheese and cut-up fruit. Very handy for those that don't need to cook for anyone but themselves. And when you are ready for salad, it's much more cost-effective than buying a lot of stuff that will spoil before you can eat it. Now that I can easily eat 1/2 cup veggies with my meal, it's not longer such a great deal for me :-) Lynda

gmanbat 5,889 Posted February 3, 2013 Sometimes Chinese buffets let you get a take home box and fill it up at the buffet for a reasonable price. You can live on that for quite a while. Broccoli, other veggies, tasty meats, and they even let you get some egg drop Soup.< /p>
lsereno 2,525 Posted February 3, 2013 hmmm didn't think about doing a salad bar... I've not gone out to eat yet... still a little fearful of the pressure... I was speaking of the ones at the grocery store. Be sure to check out a restaurant one before selecting it to be sure it has enough of the foods you will eat to make it worth your while. Early out my go to meal at restaurants was a crab or shrimp cocktail. I love them, it feels like a splurge, and generally they are about the right size. Hubby never minded eating a few bites if I couldn't finish it. Lynda
DeeBrownBaker 139 Posted February 3, 2013 I've not seen a salad bar in a grocery store in years... but it did make me think about food choices on the salad bar when I decide to venture out to dine...
