As I sat here all day loooong, feeling blue and not really knowing why, I started to wonder if post-surgery do you still have fat days?

For me it is that TOM (tmi), but you know, those lazy days, you just feel tired, sluggish, and just don't want to move...

Btw, I'm better now, made myself get up and shower and taking my son out in a bit to see a basketball game, but just wondering if this still happens...

I don't know if I'd call them "fat days"... more just like "blah days" for me. I'm having one right now. Haven't changed out of my PJs, showered or left the house today. I'm probably not the best person to talk to right now because I'm going through a break up so these feelings are probably more attributed to that. Obviously events can affect you still and knock you down a bit post-sleeve, no matter your progress. But before this, even though I was blissfully happy, I still had days like this. The sleeve doesn't solve everything. The difference is the ruts don't last as long and don't go as deep. My depression before was mainly due to my weight so now when I do get down I realize (sometimes more quickly than others) that I don't have that to be depressed about and bounce back much easier.

Not sure where you're located but I'm in Ohio where it's ~10 degrees and snowed 4 inches today. I think the winter blues and cabin fever can bring anyone down.

Have fun at the game! Keep on truckin'!

Does this cause you to want to eat more? Or just chill out more and avoid things??

I think we all need and want a chill out day sometimes regardless of the weight issue. I have bad arthritis and take methotrexate shots for it which can often tire me out in addition to just living with pain and autoimmune conditions so I enjoy the down days sometimes even when I don't feel blah just needing rest and mental break. Seems like under normal circumstances these days now and then would be healthy as well for anyone.

The normal blah days can make me want to eat, not always. The depressed, break-up blah days do make me want to eat. I've always been a boredom eater so not wanting to do anything kinda makes me want to take comfort in food. But I can still have a lazy anti-social day and not overdo it with food.

Thanks! Thats exactly what I was wondering!

When you're feeling blue put the kettle on and have a cup of tea. It's very British but it helps. Very comforting.

My fat days were so self destructive and now I don't even come close! I look back at what I used to do to myself and my poor body and it's very upsetting. When I am down now I have permission to:

Cry

Nap

Journal

Take a bath

Turn off my phone

Watch trash reality tv

Play with my dog

These things never crossed my kind before because I was trapped not only by food but also by my head. Remember that feelings are not facts!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
