Hey Laura,

Your tanks sound great!! How long have you had them? They sound like a lot of work!!!

The personal health coach is a new concept to me too! I wish I had known about this and her a lot sooner. She is a great lady, we talked a bit over an hour this evening about what I have been through and what I am currently enduring. She is here to support me, gather resources for me, make sure all my doctors are communicating, and to help me with any goals ( make and set) i have. We talk as often as I want or need. She kind of guides me along in the process. She advocates for my health; physical and mental. She answers question I have about my care and it's really nice. I look forward to chatting with her Friday about my appointment with the urologist. Emily is covered by our insurance. I have never heard of this, but the counselor I see has. I also have not endured this much in such a short period of time. :)

I won't overdue the physical activity I am looking forward to doing the strength training the physical therapist have me. I also want to do some arm weights!! Bingo wing prevention!!!

I feel so terrible. At the moment I can not recall what else your message said and what else I wanted to type!! ???? My brain is so tired.

sleep good tonight!! Have fun at the fish store!! ????

Best,

Sannah

Holy moly!! I totally didn't see the photo!!! I LOVE It!!!! Your tank is so great!!! :) thanks for posting a photo!!! I have loved tanks since a kid!!

Not sure how long the. Esophageal spasm will last!! It's believed to be from the two stents that I had. I am going to ask more questions web I see the dr again. Sometimes they can fix it permanently with surgery. But hopefully mine will relax and mellow out!! The leak has caused tons of problem!! A classic car, like you said!!!

Hello All!!!

The urologist was a very nice guy.

So there is a 50% chance that I can successfully pass the one stone that is of concern. It's 5.5mm It's a papillary stone and blocking urine flow. The other stones he said will pass on there own, but will be painful.

He explained the surgery and said I should think about it. I am supposed to call him and let him know.

It was a good appointment. :) glad to have options, but now need to think!!

Best,

Sannah

Hi Sannah,

I'm glad he was a good guy. Wow that's a lot to think about (the 50/50 thing) if you try to pass it is there a time frame that determines 50/50 or a get better get worse scenario that determines it?

Yes a ton to think about. No time frame. I asked the same thing. ???? What to do?!

God Sannah that sucks! Could it get worse than a 50/50 scenario! Such is life huh? 0_o.

Well if you wait there will be a 50 percent chance that you go through the pain and still not pass it and have to do the surgery later... Me I would do it.. But I have not gone through the trauma that you have gone through in the last couple of months.. Does he say you will feel al better after?

Or there will still be pain oh and have you passed any yet?

Sannah...by surgery do you mean the lithotripsy or surgical removal of the stone through an incision?

Obviously there are friends here who have HAD the lithotripsy and can advise you on how invasive or painful that might be. From what I've read, it doesn't sound too bad, and then you don't have to endure the painful and sometimes long road ahead.

I understand your hesitance at surgery, I get that, but if it's more of a procedure that is not invasive such as using sound waves to break apart the stones, why might I ask are you hesitant of moving forward to improve your quality of life NOW, especially because I know how much you want to get back to your full time role with Venla.

The decision is so personal. I was just wondering...and not judging in any way.

Hey Laura,

Yes, such is life!! Absolutely!!

He said I will feel miserable for a week or two. But he also said given what I have been through there is no guarantee that I will feel better right now. Sometimes when the body has experienced so much trauma the nerve fibers can get agitated or even develop scar tissue. He says this takes months to a year to heal.

So, who knows.

I don't know. I will talk to my health coach tomorrow and see what her thoughts are as well.

Sounds like its just not that clear.

Any news in your end?

Best,

Sannah

Katie,

I think I need to clarify something. The dr said he STARTS out minimally invasive. There is a fair chance that the sound waves won't work. In this case they will go into the kidney via my ureters. Essentially I will stay under until they are out. It's not as simple as saying they are using the sound waves. Unfortunately it's just not that clear cut.

I realize you don't want to judge me, but it feels like you have. I am okay with your opinion and realize at the end of the day and I have to live with my decisions and choices. I appreciate that everyone's opinion brings richness and diversity to our lives and gives me a different angle to look at. While we may or may not agree on what is right for the situation, I do not agree with the statement that I am hesitating to improve my quality of life now. I wish some how i could show you all the improvements I have made in my quality of my life.

I have been through a lot and I know you and many other people have a general understanding of what I have endured. But text can only convey so much. There is a huge difference in reading my story, living my story and being a family member or close friend who have witnessed my story minute to minute.

I do acknowledge that having another surgery is frightening, but I feel anyone who has been in my shoes would naturally feel this way.

Best,

Sannah

Sorry if you feel I have judged you. I feel for your pain. I had no idea it might involve the next step of invasive surgery. You are making decisions as you see fit and I respect that.

No need to apologize. I am not upset, but don't agree with all of the statements.

I wish it were all easier. I can see how this might be easier for someone who has not endured months of health complications.

I have learned a lot of things aren't easy.

Like my dr said think about it. My personal health coach is ringing me tomorrow. I will talk to her about all this. I don't know what to do. Feel pretty stuck; a rock and a hard place. I am sure I will figure out what is best soon. It's only a matter of time right?!

Thank you for supporting me through all this.

Best,

Sannah

Goodness gracious, lady!!! When is this ever gonna end for you? :/ oiy! It's definitely a hard decision... I'm not sure I'd want to endure another surgery/recovery either. Or one more hour in a hospital room for that matter! After all you've been through these last few months... if it were me, bc I'm a stoic pain in the arse baby, I'd tough it out & then cry & be p!ssed at myself when I had to do a procedure anyway. Lol not that I'm saying that's what it'll be for you. No matter what, I know you'll make the right decision. :)

Hi! :)

Well, I think after these gosh darn stones are out!! I can't stand the site of the hospital or even the smell!! I want nothing to do with it.

I don't know what to do, but some how I will make a good decision that will work for me and my family!!! Yikes!! Creepy to think about. But hey!? What can I do?

**shrugs** it's not fun!! Today the pain hasn't been so bad. The urologist said no need to pee in the strainer. All stones are big enough that I would see them!!! Relief to not be a slave to the strainer!! That's one good thing!!

Thank you for all your kind words and support!! Soon enough I will be 100% free and clear of doctors other than routine care!!

Cardiologist called the other day to tell me I can workout! My heart is now considered to be healthy!! :) it's great!!

Best,

Sannah

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
