We are in the same page about going out of town. I am sure!! I say no way!!!! It's too much!!!

How are things going for you? Gearing up for spring break with the kids?

Did you end up telling them? Hubby doesn't trust his Mom can respect our desire for privacy. Our relationship with his Mom is hard. She is overbearing and often has issues with boundaries. So we generally don't share a lot with her. His relationship with her has always been this way' date=' but now he protects our marriage by setting more boundaries. It would be nice to trust her, but she has proven otherwise. Bummer deal eh?

[/quote']

Good I'm glad you are going to put off going out of town for a bit!

My husband ended up telling his mom after I had surgery. Because she was upset at him for not being somewhere when she wanted him ( he was taking care of me)

She was pissed and had all kinds of things to say about it! He told her, "see, this is why we didn't tell you" hehe that shut her up!

My mother in law lacks a bit of tact and is overstepping. But I still love the old battle axe!

(she hates when I call her that, she knows, thanks to my big mouthed kids)

I can't trust that she would keep it a "secret"

But really what I needed was to be able to go through process without undo stress, and I got that at least :)

It's good that your husband stands by you in that sense. We are lucky that our mother in laws drive their sons crazy too!

I think for spring break we are going to take the kids camping!

Hi.

Old battle axe!! I love it!! Sounds like you know exactly what I am talking about with MIL's!! OMG SO OUTRAGEOUS!!! My hubby always says "why can't my parents be like yours." We are very close to my family!!! I am lucky to have my hubby is very amazing!!!

I can't believe your kids repeated the name!!! How old were they when they did this? Do your in-laws live local?

Camping sounds like fun!! :) can't wait to do that again!! Sounds hard with a toddler!!!

I will keep you posted on this up coming appointment with the nephrologist.

Best,

Sannah

Hehe.. The sad thing is the kids told her that just a couple of years ago! So I can't even blame it on

"Out of the mouths of babes" :P oh well...

Yes my in laws live to close by! But they have learned never just to stop by, thank god. My mother in law had all boys and grew up on a farm in north Dakota. No nonsense type woman.

But at the end of the day I know she loves me

( I'm the only non crazy daughter in law) and I love her in a weird way too... But it's taken many years!

I take it your mother in law doesn't live to near by?

And yes camping with toddlers can be challenging! When you do take her though, if she's anything like my kids just bring tons of Snacks. My kids will do anything if there's food involved!

Glad to hear from you today Sannah :)

Sannah, aren't you in Portland? I am confused because your doctor says WI.

I am in Hillsboro right now in a really nice motel by the Intel Campus. I hate the drive from the coast but I love coming to the big city.

I hope you're feeling better and all of these kidney stones are gone soon. I'll be looking for the update after wed. when you see the doctor.

Hi,

Yes Portland. It's like someone took over my profile. I can't get it to change back. I don't know how this happened or what to do about it? Shrugs. It's strange. Nothing on it is working properly. Last time I checked I also weighed like 28,452 lbs or something. It's weird.

I am a native Oregonian. Born and raised in Portland.

How was the drive?

Hi,

Man you mil sounds like fun!!! Amen that mine doesn't live local, she is a state away. But for a while didn't keep her from being invasive. Nowadays she understands our boundaries, but makes sure we known she isn't happy about them. Shrugs. What can you do!?

How's your day going? The nausea is out of control for me today. I can't seem to keep it under control. Can't wait for it to go away.

Best,

Sannah

The drive over was good. It wasn't raining so that makes it easier.

I would send a pm to Alex about your profile. Alex or Ken. Ken does tech support . It should say admin when you message and have another alex or ken show up.

It was so much fun shopping today.I love coming here cause I have no good stores over there in the middle of nowhere.

Are you still in terrible pain today?

Hi Sannah,

I'm sorry to hear about the nausea today :( hopefully you are feeling a bit better?

Well, be glad that you that your mom in law lives far away! Boy I wish mine did..

Mine was famous for cutting out diet articles and saving them for me! My husband went off on her one day so now at least she doesn't do that anymore!

Today is my husbands birthday so it's been a good day :) I went out earlier to pick up his presents (and snuck in a pedicure shhhhh)

We went out to sushi with the kids and we just got back... I am stuffed to the gills :P

It's funny how one order of sake (salmon) sashimi can make me so full....

I can't wait until you can go out and do normal things like that, it's funny I'm 4 months out and the first couple of months were full of lots of adjustments (a little pain, nausea, head hunger)

But you have gone through a continual nightmare..I hope that when this is over the rest will be easier... And that you get to a "new normal" Like me..

I guess that makes me wonder? We did this to lose weight, not be fat, it's hard because I loved eating and the "deprivation" for me was (and sometimes still is) hard somedays, because I wanted that comfort of food..

Is this mixed in there too with you sometimes for the comfort aspect? Or do you not even think about food anymore?

Hi!

Holy moly your mil sounds like the ????. I can't believe how inconsiderate she is to do that!!! Is she perfect!?

Sounds like your hubby had a great birthday celebration!!! Happy Birthday to him!!!! It is amazing how little can fill us up isn't it?

I admire your new normal and I can't wait to find mine. It feels like I will never get there. It's going in 4 months of this nightmare. Lately I feel beyond regretful for this surgery. I have been waking up everyday at 4-5am feeling over emotional. I desperately wanted to cancel my therapy today. But I know if I don't want to do it, that this means I need it the most. Yesterday it was easier to not eat or drink. I go through these periods where I choose to not eat and barely drink. It's not healthy.

Yes comfort food... It's no more... It's hard because I have to find another outlet. I don't really desire food. I don't know what I like or what to eat. The only thing I know I like for sure is strawberries. I often think something sounds good, but it ends up not tasting good. So, why eat it? My taste has changed drastically.

Are you feeling pretty adjusted these days? Or do you still feel deprived? How did you or do you fight head hunger? How do you decide what to eat?

I hope your day is good!! ????

Best,

Sannah

I was wondering if you are capturing the debris that is coming out in your urine Sannah? By now you probably should know the type of stones you have, am I correct from your urinary analysis? I know you mention that you do not want to eat or drink much...but Sannah, you simply must drink in order to flush the stones out. This is standard treatment and you want them out of your body. Even if you don't have much of an apetite, try drinking as much as you can to facilitate the flushing. When I was taking the homeopathic remedy, I was drinking up to 100 oz of Fluid to try and have output at 2 litres. I remember seeing the stones coming out and the tissue as well. The continuance of PLENTY of fluids daily should help you from continuing to get the stones and if they are oxalate, citrus helps prevent them, so a squeeze of lemon in your Water helps. This is being proactive sweetheart...I think of you often and hate that you are suffering, I know from personal experience it is very tough to get through this kind of pain.

Take care!!

Lol Sannah!

She wasn't being inconsiderate, she was being

"Helpful"! :P

I'm glad your making yourself go to therapy today, I have had times like that, and your right those are most definitely the times you need to go!

I guess that's why I was curious about your thoughts on food...

Our relationship with it is so complicated, I mean I was one of those that would feed a cold AND a fever. You know that old adage, feed a cold starve a fever? Not here, no way baby, I fed everything to make myself "feel better".

But I imagine where you are now, that your thoughts are beyond food. And perhaps you've not had to fight head hunger.

You mentioned things not tasting good, I feel the same way, in the sense that its just not satisfying as much anymore. Something will sound good but I think for me at least the sounding good part was also the act of overeating it, not just having a few bites. I would say the head hunger is still in play somewhat. But the reality is just not as good eating anymore.

So for for the most part I'm just eating what I need to eat to get my Protein goals met.

Hope you feeling a bit better as the day goes on Sannah.

Laura

Hi,

I have counseling and physical therapy today. Pt is part of the program too!

I completely hear you on food. I had head hungry but I seemed to have moved past it. The dr recently asked me if I feel anorexic. It was the weirdest question. I have been good to eat anything I want. Oddly nothing sounds good. Everyone keeps saying eat eat eat!!! It's annoying and it's hard to eat. Not to mention I am still vomiting. Then days like yesterday happen where I choose to not eat.

I have never heard of this "feed a cold starve a fever". Have you been sick since surgery? Did you follow these guidelines or fall back into your old way?

Head hunger is strong!!! I wonder what kinds of books there are? Read any?

I no longer order food when we go out. It's pointless. Can't eat enough of anything and it doesn't taste good. The left overs are in plenty; too much. How much sushi can you eat? I was reading a thread this am. You posted that no food really gives you grief?! Is it so? Sugar is a nightmare for me. It comes right back up.

Have a good day!!!

Best,

Sannah

Hi,

How are you doing?

I do pee into a hat and then strainThis is part of my frustration lately. I was previously a slave to the blood pressure machine monitoring my heart rate and bp 3 times a day and reporting to the dr weekly.

Now all this urine stuff. I can't pee when I am away from home because I am not taking the hat or strainer out and about. Sometimes I only pee twice a day.

I generally consume 80oz a day as the dr asked but yesterday I didn't want to eat and barely drank. It's just how I feel some days.

I are the nephrologist tomorrow at 2:00pm.

My out is low and the dr knows this. Just got blood work from my UA that shows WBC in my Irwin. Maybe I have an infection? Calling dr today. Alkaline phosphotase is elevated?! Weird

Best,

Sannah

Sannah...yeah you probably have an infection with elevated white blood count. And here's a little excerp regarding alkaline phosphotase elevation:

A number of problems in the liver can lead to elevated levels of alkaline phosphatase. According to the University of Michigan Health System, these include cancer, infection, blockage from a gallstone or tumor, damage caused by toxins and inflammationicon1.png from some medications.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
