You are right it is definitely harder on you than her! And no she won't remember this years from now. She's probably happy not to mention lucky to have so many people care for her!

That's what families do!

At sixteen months my son spent most of his time in hospital. He had aversions to things like changing tables (too much like the blood draw table), malls (too much like a hospital) and even his dad's office. This lasted for several years but after he was about five it gradually went away (he also quit spending large amounts of time in hospital at age 3 1/2). He does not remember hospital much except he says on occasion that he "always wanted one of those" when he sees an electric wheelchair (the kids used to race them LOL). I think he now just says it cuz he always has and doesn't remember why.

She'll never remember all of this Sannah. And it's nice that grandma is there to fill in where you need her. That's special for grandma and her really :)

I was sad to read you were having issues and very happy to see that things have improved over the day. I really wish you'd get a second opinion hun. This is going on too long!

I am so sorry to hear your son had to endure all this!! Poor little guy!!! Is he healthy now and no longer needing so much care?

I am so thankful for all of my family. I just can't wait to do all my mommy duties. I love my daughter so much and it's so natural to nurture her. My body is catching up gaining strength. :) I just can't wait to be 100%.

I hope your having a great Friday.

Oh yes. One more question. Did they use any sort of glue with your claw?

So, I called the cardiologist who I met I the hospital

As many of may know my heart has been having trouble. I have been waiting for my surgeons office to call back. They have the knowledge That my bp and pulse where low and then shot up too high again and not a word.

Great news that I will see the cardiologist Monday. I luckily was able to speak with a nurse. I now know how to care for myself over the weekend.

The bummer part is I learned some information that no one has told me or any of my family that was at the hospital. My heart was having trouble irregular beating during and since surgery- according to my tests. Why wasn't I told this?

I understood I was on bp medication because the stress of the leak caused my heart to be bothered. . Apparently I am on medication for blood pressure and to keep my heart rate at a healthy level.

I was given guidelines for the medicines I have on hand and guidelines for when I need to head to the ER.

I have tried to be patient, I listen to everyone and try to understand. I try to ask all the questions I can so i understand what is happening and how to get better. I challenge ethics.... Why was I never made aware of this? It is unsettling to me.

I realize that I have used pain meds and often these impair ones ability to comprehend. But not one of my families recall this information being shared.

Isn't it my dr job to share this information with me?!

Wow that's great that you have an appointment

With the cardiologist! And scary about the other!

Did you ask why you weren't told? Not that it would matter because I'm sure they wouldn't have a satisfactory answer....

Hello!

How are you managing? I am happy and relieved to see the cardiologist. The nurse I spoke to has never been involved in my care. So, she doesn't know why no one mentioned this.

I am changing surgeons and moving on. I can't allow this treatment to go on any longer. I need to know what is happening with my body. I feel so left out of my own care. This is not how things are supposed to be!!!

Best,

Sannah

Sannah you keep getting bad news, but the good thing is you are finding out the news...which means you can deal with it verses being kept in the dark as you have been. I'm SO GLAD you are changing docs. I wanted to make you do that LOL but that's hard on the net :P Your relationship with your physician isn't healthy right now. You have no trust, and well I won't talk about her...but the change is good. And I'm so glad you are seeing the cardiologist. You need to get to the bottom of this stuff.

As to my guy...he's rarely sick now. We were told he would likely grow out of his syndrome by the time he's about 9. The testing is pretty intensive for him so we won't do that until he's 9 but we know he's getting better each year :) He's a happy little monster now, not the sick little monster he was years ago :)

How's your dear daughter dealing with this? Can you cuddle with her much (he spent evenings in my bed when I was really sick). Those little touches mean so much don't they?

We are all going to get through this. I thought I might not Sannah...you have probably had your moments as well I'd guess, but let's walk the road together and get you on the other side of the healthy tracks ok? You are making steps in the right direction. I knew I was getting better Sannah when I demanded better care! That takes energy and you're starting to feel it, even if just enough to be grumpy about things :) It's a step in the right direction!!!!

Iggychic,

I am learning that I need a little tough love right now..... I learned that I don't have enough nutrients for my brain to function properly. I am trying so hard to get better, but this surgery has been so much more than I would have ever imagined. I know you can relate to this!!! I am relieved to have someone else to care for me, and to see the cardiologist this Monday (my appointment can't arrive soon enough).

I am so happy to hear that your little man is getting better each year!! :) This is great news! I can't imagine what those years of hospital care and tests must have been so terrible for him and you (your hubby too!). I hope that when he hits 9 that all is smooth sailing.

My daughter (Venla), has so many people here to care for her. She seems to be doing great! I am pretty sure its harder on me than her. Any touch or time we get to spend together means a lot. My family has been amazing at allowing me to find that things I can do, rather than think about what I can't do. I can sit at the table and feed her! Evening at dinner time is always something I look forward to. Today I started trying to change her diaper on the floor. I am not strong enough to pick her up and carry her much. So, I have to be extra careful. Everyday I make time to sit on the floor and play with her. I am most certain all of these little moments together will be greater in time.

You are absolutely right! I have had my moments of not being sure what was going to happen or where I was going to find strength to keep pushing. This last week is the first time I felt like I was going to be okay. I think my husband, and family already knew I was going to be okay. I didn't! I felt so alone. I needed to talk to someone who has been here in order to feel okay. I am so thankful for the relief. The concept that I am going to be okay is HUGE, it has been a game changer for me.

How did your costumes come out?

Best,

Sannah

Iggy saved my sanity during my leak fiasco. 3 weeks strict NPO on TPN.... Eek. You can message me if you want dear, I know it's hard and there are so many issues other than the leak itself. You can do this! Just follow your instructions to a T :)

Hey Liz,

Yes. So many issues other than the leak. The leak has caused so many other problems.

How are you doing now? I feel so crazy sometimes. All the emotions and learning to do. Are you healthy now?

Thank you for messaging me and the words of encouragement. It's so hard sometimes. It sounds like you are well aware of this.

I am sorry that you had to endure a leak and all the trouble that come with it. It's a real bummer!!

I hope your on the mends. :)

Best,

Sannah

Hi how are you feeling? You "sound" like your doing a bit better today :) when do you find out about the other surgeon?

I'm glad that you have been getting time to be more hands on with your daughter!

My son just turned 11 but he still snuggles with me. I call him my snuggle bunny. Shhhh... Don't let his friends know.

Sannah, Liz, Iggy...you've all been through so much, I admire your strength and hope you get stronger every day. I too have a wonderful child to snuggle up to, my 9 yr old grandson, he lives with me and worried I would get too skinny, now he says "Hey Nana your butt's not so big anymore, its cute!" Kids...gotta love em.

You're guys secrete is safe here!! :) so sweet that he still snuggles!!! :) I hope Venla will be like your little guy and still like to snuggle and be close!! Your lucky!!

I was feeling good this am. Them I talked to the nurse of the cardiologist and learned all the information that I should already known I feel bummed. I started the medicines again. I feel awful on them. But I have to do this and log what I feel, bp, pulse and which medicine I took. Tonight my bp and pulse went way up. I felt so dizzy and blah.

The surgeon has an open door. So my records are being transferred over. So I will have better care and hopefully be made aware of what is actually going on. What a relief!!

You know. I don't think I have asked about your journey and how it going?

Best,

Sannah

I'd love to see a picture of Venla when you can!

Sorry the medicine is making you feel bad again

:(

But I'm glad that you are able to find new doctors.

I was sleeved on 11-13-12 and things for the most part are going well... this forum really helps. It's nice to connect with people that are going through the same things!

How did you come up with your daughters name?

It's pretty and I've never heard it before.

My sons name is Ethan.

Oh and really want to be a "nana" one day! I had the worlds best Nana!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
