Miracle Noodles

Has anyone tried these? I was just wondering. If they are worth it or just a pile of Gummy yuck. They do come in many shapes and sizes.

My friend loved them. I couldn't stand them. They are very filling, have no flavor but smell aweful. They are like tofu, they have to have some type of sauce to take on a flavor.

My go to food was Pasta and bread. They are just way to filling. The ingredients sounded like they weren't as dense. I get the flavorless part, did you not like them because the filled up the sleeve? I was just curios if the were sleeve friendly.

I tried them, got the linguini version. They do smell, but if you wash them according to the package directions, the smell goes away. They were very very chewy, like a real tough Gummy bear. But I couldn't take the slimy feel of the noodles. Many have been happy with the angle hair version, maybe the smaller noodles wouldn't feel so slimy.

miracle noodles are Shirataki noodles, which - if you have an Asian specialty market nearby - can be bought in their refrigerated section in single bags and cheaply (I pay about $2,00 per package). They definitely smell awful - like ammonia - but it rinses fairly well. I give them a few minutes in boiled Water, too, which helps make them less chewy and further minimizes the smell. I've mixed them into a stir-fry and have even attempted with marinara (the sauce doesn't stick well and gets watery, but it's not totally awful).

But to your specific question about being sleeve-friendly... for me, yes, they are, but I've been fortunate to find most things have been for me. Granted, I haven't tried more than a small bite of Pasta, so I can't compare, but since shirataki noodles don't expand or absorb boiling Water, I can't imagine they'd expand in your sleeve. See if you can find a single package locally and give them a try. If your sleeve and/or palate doesn't like them, it's only a couple of bucks down the drain.

Thanks. I was thinking that they'd do well with saucy stuff. Maybe more with Soup or stir fry. It seems like you don't need much. I just know for me Pasta, bread and rice are worth a bite to taste and that's about it. I thought these noodles weren't dense. I

I appreciate all of the feedback. I know I'll try them just to see and go from there.

Thanks

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
