Just finished my last day at work

Recommended Posts

I just finished my last day at work, I start my leave of absence on the 4th. Surgery is on the 6th I am excited, but this Pre-Op diet is killing me. Does anyone have any suggestions for some way to liven it up little bit?

That depends on what your pre-op diet is, I suppose. There are lots of different kinds, and some people get to eat food while others... not so much. Mine was two weeks of BA shakes with fruit and a little veggie once a day.

Torani sugar free syrups, dry sugar free puddings, adding milk or almond milk for extra flavor, ice and blend like a smoothie. Just some suggestions for what worked for me.

Wow, I've never heard of that before. Only milk? o.O I mean, I love some dairy, but I dunno if I'd love 8 weeks of it.

So sorry to laugh at your misery....but that was funny! Try getting different colored sunglasses like rose color and maybe you will think you're drinking strawberry milk? I can't imagine drinking milk for so long! You're my hero! I have no doubt you will be one of the super successful sleevers!

thank you, one of the reasons im on the 8 week milk diet is I have very low cholesterol and they need to build it up as the surgeon says its worse than high and they would be afraid of liver damage, 1 week gone so just 7 more to go, now where are those sunglasses lol lol

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
