Throwing up after 3 weeks out

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 01-14-13 and have not had any problems whatsoever until this past Wednesday night. I have eaten everything exactly like they told me to eat. I had my Soup for dinner and about 1 1/2 hours later I had the terrible dry heaves. Last night no problem until 1:30 a.m. (7 hours after dinner) and I threw up nothing but yellow liquid. Anybody having these problems? Somebody said it could be gallbladder. Any ideas? Thanks

It could be anything, so many possibilities... Probably a good idea to call your Dr since its not food but bile you are vomiting. It could be serious so don't delay.

Are you taking a PPI like prilosec? Other than that i have no suggestions other than to call your doctor. It could be anything. You may have a stomach bug, you may have a leak, I'm not a doctor so I can't tell you.

Are you taking a gallstone prevention medication like Ursodiol? Sounds like the stomach adjusting after initial swelling begins to go down, it's relearning digestion. I'd check with your doctor just to be safe.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
