Flying after surgery

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to go to Mexico for surgery but am so afraid to fly afterwards. It just doesn't seem safe to me and I'm sure my family dr will be completely against it.

I know the chances are slim but I can't help but be hesitant. I have a family I can't afford to die doing something I have the choice to do.

You are not going to die. You will be just fine. I was sleeved in Mexico on the 14th of Jan. and flew home on Thursday and had no problems and I don't like to fly period. You will feel soooo much better once you get your drain out. You will be fine. Don't worry.

I know everyone always says that but the fact of the matter is that it isn't safe. I have to fly out of either Toronto or buffalo. So not sure how long the flight is.

I've never even been on a plane before so I'm sure that also has to do with my added anxiety.

If you search 'flying surgery' on this forum there Are so many people saying its an absolute no no and extremely dangerous. That freaks me out.

I spent an extra 2 days in San Diego before I flew home to Winnipeg. My biggest problem was the build up of gas sitting for 2 hours 15 min at a time. We flew from San Diego to Denver, Denver to Winnipeg.

I'll be flying from San Diego to the East Coast. I plan to get up and walk the aisle of the plane as often as possible - will make many trips to the bathroom! Also, I'll be "running" while seated: exercising my thigh and calf muscles to keep the blood flowing.

Seriously, it was not a big deal. I flew from SD to Houston; then Houston to Cleveland. Each was about a 2 to 3 hour flight.

Wear compression stockings and point and flex your toes while seated on the plane. also get up and walk frequently. It's not the actual flying that's dangerous, it's sitting with your legs down without moving, but YOU are in control of how much you move about.

I'm flying from San Diego to Chicago and from Chicago to Akron/Canton. 6 hours total. I have compression socks and plan to walk the isle when permissible.

I had surgery in Tijuana and flew back to Texas within a week. Absolutely no problems. I did not wear compression stockings.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
