Serious Poppy wound

Recommended Posts

I had a bizarre accident with my poppy today. I ended up dragging the pin across the underside of my forearm, creating a half inch deep and five inch long wound. Hurts like hell. Maybe it's time to invent one that's not so lethal.

Devana

I know those Poppies are dangerous! I know some people put a pencil eraser on the pin?! I just take my chances afterall it is to remember those who fought in the wars. the least I can do is get a pin stab!!!LOL

Hope you don't need stitches

Thanks for the sympathy, guys. Nah, there's no way I'd go and spend a few hours in emergency. I just taped it up with butterfly bandages.

An eraser is a great idea, Lila.

Oh boy... be careful!!!

A friend of mine at work was just saying today that he wasn't allowed to have poppies until he was like 18, because his mom had heard of a kid falling on his, and it puncturing his heart!

I don't know... maybe a little kid is softer? LOL

I've always thought those things are dangerous!!! Especially for school kids. On my bus the kids try poking each other with them. I think the poppies should be stickers instead.

My co-worker's wife is a school teacher and she used Velcro to keep the poppies on her kids. Not sure exactly how she did it but she should patten it!!! I always buy so many poppies because I keep losing them. Maybe there's a method to the madness. The Vet's would probably lose a ton of money from the donation if someone actually developed one that would actually stay on. Not that I don't think they deserve the money, they deserve every little bit they get.

Rememberance Day Trivia,

Did you know the author of In Flanders Field was Canadian?

In Flanders Fields

By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)

Canadian Army

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow

Between the crosses row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
