So, today I had my consultation appointment with Dr. Nick. When I left his office, I literally jumped up and down and danced a jig of glee in the hall. My husband was so excited for me that he nearly joined in. Turns out the 6 month supervised diet I thought I have to have is NOT REQUIRED, and instead all I have to do is have a psych evaluation, schedule an appointment with a nutritionist, and get my pcp to send a letter recommending the surgery. I AM SO EXCITED, Y'ALL!

You have no idea how long I've wanted this. I've gone through this weight loss surgery process before, only to lose my insurance and have all my hopes shattered. While I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, I can't help but get excited! The rest is up to me. On Monday I'm calling and scheduling the psych and nut appts, and calling my pcp to see about getting into see him so he can recommend me for WLS. As soon as that is done, we submit to the insurance company for approval, wait a response, and then schedule my surgery date.

Oh, and I don't have to have another sleep study! Whew!

So scared and so excited! Please keep me in your prayers through this. My anxiety is kicking in about all the what-ifs and trying to get me ahead of where I am. EEEEEE! :D

Congratulations Khloe! I had to do the six month supervised diet but fortunately my insurance accepted Weight Watchers and I have been going to their meetings. What date is your surgery? Mine is April 17...one more week!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
