teetani 25 Posted February 1, 2013 How much time was everyone out of work for? I am hoping my doctor will let me stay out 6 to 8 weeks after surgery . I work with people with mental health issues. I have to do a lot of restraining people.
ibehere10 163 Posted February 1, 2013 I was out 4 weeks. My doc was willing to give me more but I was bored to tears and needed to get back to work!!
JennyBeth 127 Posted February 1, 2013 My doctor says he tells people 3-4 weeks. I plan on returning after 2 weeks which he said is reasonable to do. 6-8 weeks might be stretching it a little, but maybe since your job is so physical that would be acceptable. teetani 25 Posted February 1, 2013 My coworker was sleeved beginning of Jan and the doctor has not cleared him because of what we do. I was just curious
Ms.AntiBand 2,984 Posted February 1, 2013 I took 3.5 weeks off and like above I got so bored I was going crazy and wasted money shopping and running around. Everyone is different after surgery so it's best to arrange a good amount of time and have enough over not enough
lilbearzmom 584 Posted February 1, 2013 I only took 2 weeks off but I have a pretty easy job physically.
teetani 25 Posted February 1, 2013 Did any of you have restrictions on lifting? If so for how long?
massindex 346 Posted February 1, 2013 I was sleeved on a Monday and went back to work on the road the following week. I might not recommend that for everyone, though. It wasn't very easy. An extra week might have helped.

mark! 449 Posted February 1, 2013 I'm taking 3 weeks off, but my job is easy as far as physical stress. I'm hoping to be back in the gym within 3-4 weeks doing light stuff, hopefully.

This is not something we do everyday but have to be ready at all times.
NikkiV1986 121 Posted February 2, 2013 I'm curious too. After surgery my job requires a lift test of 150lbs. I will hopefully see the surgeon next week and will ask then!! I lift people for a living... And it's rare to have someone under the 150 mark including equipment and stuff....
