Ya I hope so, thanks.

It's true, drs seem to assume all fat people are lazy and eat 3500 calories a day. It's actually quite irritating.

I have in the past yes and followed their orders and gained 20lbs (this was when I was 12). I'm going to ask at my next drs appt to be referred. Who knows how long the waiting list is.

Have you had your thyroid checked?

I think about it daily. Did I need to cut out my stomach. Then I remember why I was. Yesterday my friend made a steak dinner with potatoes and salad and wine. I ate 3/4 of a filet of tilapia and a piece of a potato instead. The potato sat heavy in my stomach. Didn't feel good. But it tasted so good I had another piece. I made myself throw it up (not the norm and it was already on its way up) to rid myself of the discomfort. My reminder was just that: I would have eaten the entire steak meal w potatoes and wine and had dessert after. I like big portions.

The sleeve helps me portion myself. I still have to make good choices. And I don't get as hungry as I used to. That's alllll sleeve baby. I remember feeling like a fat loser when I would eat a big meal then feel hungry a couple hours later and others weren't at all:0/. This helps regulate my hunger.

I think on a normal day I ate 2,500 calories and on a day I didn't care maybe even 3000. I have always dieted but its always seemed soooo much harder for me than others.

Good luck in your decision. It's a big decision and doesn't come without grieving the loss of a part of you (most of a major organ and a comfortable habit or gorging).

Yes several times throughout my life. But they said its a very tricky thing to test for as bloodwork may be fine one hour and screwed up the next. It took my moms friend over 15 times for it to show up.

I'm going to try and get the surgery covered by ohip so that I'm not paying out of pocket. I'm only 21 so even if I have to wait a year or two it's not the end of the world. If all else fails I will go to Mexico.

I guess my biggest concern about Mexico is flying after surgery. My dr doesn't advise it because of blood clots. This terrifies me.

If you don't want the surgery and are seriously honest about your calorie intake you need to consult an endocrinologist who will do a full metabolic workup on you. I have two friends that don't even know each other but both have children with metabolic disorders both causing their children to be obese. I know one child takes 4 200mg of Meformin tablets at bed each night to help along diet and exercise keep his weight gain down as much as possible. If you aren't familiar with this is a whopping dose of Rx med use by diabetics type II to keep blood sugar down. You could have a metabolic disorder often hereditary. There's were.

My other thought is with the surgery removing the grehlin sp. Hormones maybe that would have a significant impact? Don't know. Good luck on your decision.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
