Sleeved and can't stop vomiting

Recommended Posts

Hey guys' date=' I was sleeved on Wed. January 30th and I don't have much pain, just itchiness on the incision sites, but I am vomiting every 2-3 hours. Its mainly bile. Is this normal and how much longer will this go on? I tried sipping Water but I can't hold it down.[/quote']

For me this happen for the 2 days I was in the hospital and 3 days when I got home I dont know if it was the anesthsia or the morphine but that was the worst for me as well other than that no real pain! Congrats on ur surgery each day will get better trust me!

I was heaving and nauseus the day before and day of my two week follow up wasnt sure why i knew it wasnt from a new food or med, so they gave me a prescription that helped a lot. Then today (yesterday was my two week follow up) i woke up with a 100 degree fever and killer sore throat. So i would recommend just be cautious it is flu season after all and some of the flu symptoms mimic a leak stay in contact with your doctor.

I am scheduled to be sleeved Feb 12 and I am so FREAKED out about getting the flu!! I have to imagine THAT would not be fun...(and I don't want my surgery postponed) Yeah, Chubarella I would totally call your Dr.

I know what you mean, I felt a little fluish before my surgery but went through with it anyway. (Started feeling ok when they put in my iv) I ended up with a nasty chest cold or bronchitis or something the day after surgery so I was coughing an awful lot like with every other breath, with the fresh incisions it was miserable. I would recommend getting a lot of Vitamins and be pro active avoid anything or anyone that might get you sick! Take some emergen-c. :) take care of yourself and good luck.

I am almost a month post op and still when I eat something non liquid I vomit. I am on pureed foods, but they do not stay down. I told my dr, and he said drink slower, but this is something happening without drinking. If it is not normal, then what is it? I know 'call my doctor' let us know that this part is understood, can anyone give me any additional advice as to the possible implications of vomiting post sleeve, off medications?

I am also a month out and just recently stopped vomiting with everything that entered me. I have called my doctor multiple times and he doesn't seem to care. He told me that what I am doing doesn't come from the surgery so it has to be something else and I should come in for a cat scan... Ugh NO

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
