Shaye 6 Posted February 1, 2013 So i found out today, no pre op diet required..yay right...i dont know cuz what they do want is a 5yr obesity history. I moved here (illinois) from cali in 2007, never really saw a doctor unless i was prego. In 2008 i was prego with my last child and saw my obgyn here and then finally started seeing a primary on a regular basis, but obviously not 5yrs. Im worried about having a 5yr history. Any ideas or anyone who has had this issue that might be able to give advice, please do so!!! Thanks in advance!!
Heyher 581 Posted February 2, 2013 Can you get your weights from before you moved? A call to your old doc to find out what record release they need. Maybe photographs with the date on them showing your weight prior to your moving. Also call your insurance and see if they have suggestions.

Shaye 6 Posted February 5, 2013 Called uhc today and they wont tell me what they will accept for the 5yr weight history! I told the lady that i havent had the same doc for 5yrs let alone even go to a doc every year for 5yrs. I asked if they accept pics of me from the past or what else i can do or get but she said my surgeon had to send in the initial forms for surgery then it gets examined by the team and we go from there. UGH! I just wanna start getting everything today so i can help speed up this process! Anyone else have issues getting proof of weight history??? Help!!! I was shocked because I was expecting the worst. There's hope! I asked surgeons office if pictures would do but they didnt know. My history shows my bmi over 30 (which i think is obese) for the past 5yrs. Maybe i should throw pics in with it..lol how long did it take to hear back uhc? toylitpapr 50 Posted February 8, 2013 No one knew if the pictures would work in my case either. It took about 3 weeks or so. Talk about suspense! Especially when I kept hearing that folks were getting approved in a day..2 days... Personally, I don't think the pictures would hurt!! Build your case as strong as possible. toylitpapr 50 Posted February 9, 2013 BMI over 40 with no comorbidities or BMI of 35 or more with comorbidities. Those are the guidelines I've seen pretty much everywhere.
