I have plans on Saturday to go out to a musical. This is the situation, we are leaving home at 11:00 arriving in Des Moines at 12:30 getting a drink and bite to eat, then going to the The Book Of Morman. Afterwards we have reservations at a brewery. I realize I probably should not go but I really want too. I will get home at eight. I feel great for the most part. What I need is advice on how to handle my food for the day. I am on a blended diet.

Bring a cooler and Protein to add to Water. It's hard. Be prepared to ask for hot water and add protein Soup. I had to figure out what to do over the holidays and when traveling and eating at other people's houses. Plan, Plan, Plan before you walk into the restaurant or brewery. You can do this!!!! Make sure you move around and don't sit in one place for long. I've taken protein water in my purse when we've gone to see a musical so I could get some liquids in. Almost 3 months out!!

You should absolutely go! This is not something that should become a disability to your social life. You will need to plan ahead and bring things with you. Include a couple of tea bags and don't be shy about ordering tea at the brewery. The point is to share good times with friends, you don't need to consume things to do that and the brewery isn't going to care one bit if one person in the group isn't drinking. They may even praise you for being the designated driver!

Sounds like a lot of alcohol stops for someone just out of surgery. Hope you plan on being kind to your sleeve and sticking to Water while the others are indulging in the drinking.

Have fun and enjoy yourself that's the most important thing.

I think you should go. You can put Protein powder in a Water bottle and even add the Water to it for the ride. I think it will dissolve fine. Tea bags or crystal light can be added at the brewery. Beer was my choice of alcohol and at 3 months out I still don't think I would enjoy one. I may try a sip once I get the guts for carbonation.

Maybe there will be a Soup you can have or a mashed potato so you don't feel totally left out. Good luck and enjoy! It sounds like a fun outing!

Your going to be fine and there is no reason you shouldn't go, just be prepared to ask for Soup, and tell them to run it through a blender for you if you need too. Any place will do this.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
