Yes, I had the same symptoms as you, only I had mine removed before the surgery.

Yes, but mine was a sudden attack of pain in the upper tummy, and pressure going around to my back. Also, throwing up for about 8hrs, before deciding to go to the ER. We were out of town for Christmas, and spent our entire trip at the hospital. My surgeon said I was full of gallstones. I've read that losing weight could trigger gallstones, guess it's true!

I know, the pain is awful! Weight loss does have a lot to do with gallstone attacks.

Yes, you will find lots of people around here who have had this. Mine is coming out Monday. I'm 7 months post-op. I had two attacks pre-op but my gastroenterologist didn't investigate as much as he could have. Makes me mad since I could have had it done with my sleeve. I ended up in the ER on NYE thinking I was having a heart attack. I've had several attacks since. The last two days I have had very bad attacks... yesterday had to leave work early. I haven't had an attack today (knock on wood) but my whole body is sore now and I get sharp pains when I eat. I am so ready for this to be over!

Good luck with your surgery!

Were those of you that had your gall bladders removed after surgery given a medication called "ursodiol" after surgery? Did you get gallstones anyways?

I would be interested to know this too Jenny. I get sleeved on 2/12 and have a six month prescription for this from the doctor already. Apparently it thins the bile so gallstones do not form.

No was not given a prescription to prevent this, this pain is worse than the recovery from the sleeve it's self. Glad to have it removed tomorrow. Thanks for all the input.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
