I'm 3 weeks out & still feel that discomfort/pulling pain on right mid quadrant area. No need for pain med buy its there. Had to call in this Monday due to severe excruciating pain. Called doc said it sounded muscular/incisional, advised to take pain med, apply heat, & rest. All better by Tuesday!

Day 4 or 5 was much better. I didn't have to have help sitting up at that point and I didn't need pain meds.

The pain is described as if you had a c section and when you get up you feel the muscle pushing. When is was in the hospital I have the reclining bed which was so much easier to get out of bed but now back to readily I need to get up from my bed and I feel every single muscles in the stomach. Today is my 3rd day of operation and instill have the pain when I get up even walking need to walk extra slow. I had my gall bladder taken out when I was 19 and after the week I didn't have those pains anymore.

I had a wicked amount of pain in 2 out of the 6 incisions. I would literally hold them (they were right next to eachother) when I walked because I felt like they were tearing. It took about a week to go away. Two and a half weeks post op and I have NO PAIN in my abdominal area anymore.

Good luck with your healing!!

I had surgery yesterday. 5 incisions. Today I feel much better despite a minor comfort on one of the incisions. I think I will be in a speedy recovery so I hope. Hope this month passes quick.

Nope I am back home. I am having trouble passing out the gasses. I try everything walking, gas x strips but nothing seems to help. I slept more last night than what I did in the hospital. Now about the liquids.., I hope I can take my entire bottle of Isopure. Crossing fingers.

Today, at day 10 I would say today is the first day that I feel zero incisional pain.

I am still having shoulder problems but when I had a lapband that lasted weeks, which I do not think is typical.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
