I'm 34 days post-op and only in the last 2 weeks have I had more quality sleep. I still have to use the CPAP machine, but I need less sleep and I feel more rested. Pre-surgery, I would sleep 8 - 9 hours and wake up tired, now I sleep 6 - 7 hours and feel okay. I've noticed that as I've cut back on my food intake in the past, I needed less sleep.

Statistically, bariatric surgery resolves 74-98% of obstructive sleep apnea.

About a month out I put the CPAP away.

I've been on a CPAP for about 8 years now. I'm 9mo post-op & really think I would pass a sleep study now. However, due to the high cost involved in going to a sleep lab (home studies aren't accepted in my business) I'm going to wait a few more months.

As far as anecdotal evidence, I really don't need much sleep anymore. And even when I do go without my machine, I've been told that I don't snore anymore & I don't gasp for air either.
