DebraLea 16 Posted January 31, 2013 I am about 9 months out and have been stalled for a while but thats not the deal here. I have been having severe pain for months after eating and everytime i ask the PA says its GERD. I had GERD prior to the surery and this is not GERD pain. Twice I was ready to ask Dave to take me to the ER it was so intense. I can only eat 5 very small bites before it begins. Anyway I finally got to talk to the surgeon and he ordered a scope which the gastro is going to do but first he wanted an upper GI. Well got the results today and it appears since the surgery I have developed a Hiatal Hernia and of course the GERD is much worse now. Question is does this hernia happen to a lot of people after this surgery and what did you do. I really do not want to go back in and have even more surgery. Should this have happened to me or is there something else I should be worried about? Thanks

Krissymbr 12 Posted February 16, 2013 I just had an upper GI yesterday and found out I have a sliding hiatal hernia. food and even Water is getting stuck. I have a HIDA scan on Monday to look at my gallbladder. So I don't know what my surgeon wants to do as of yet. But I guess I'll go back to liquids for now since food gets stuck. My surgery date was October 22, 2012, so I'm almost 4 months out.
