New, Hungry, Bored

Recommended Posts

I am new to this forum as well. I was sleeved by Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana on 1-14-12. I have lost 30 pounds; 21 of that pre-op. Dr. Ortiz has you on nothing but liquids for 21 days. I am so hungry, bored with the few Soups out there that you can "drink". I'm even tired of my Protein Drinks. Any ideas to get through this post-op nightmare is greatly appreciated. God Bless.

I found making my own chicken broth was way better than store bought Soup. I can drink it much easier than I can plain Water or Crystal Light.

It's not difficult to make. I put two or three whole chickens in a Soup pot and cover with cold Water. Add about a cup each of chopped carrots, celery and onion. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil and then lower heat to medium. That's it. Just cook for 3-4 hours and it's done.

The chicken from the soup can be frozen and used when you're at the pureed stage.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
