my surgeons asst just called me and told me that in order for her to submit my clearance papers to my insurance that i have to have 6th nutritionist appts . I thought i was all done and i have been to the nutrionist 3 times and on the 6th of February it'll be my fourth one. Just when i thought i was finished because the doctor said he was gonna push for my insurance to accept me before the 6th months. I get a road block. This means that i won't be getting my surgery anytime soon...I have to wait until April to finish all of my nutrionist and then push to see if my insurance accepts me. SO SAD!!! I did all of my appts..meetings..and medical follow ups in less then two months just hoping to rush things a little. I feel like time is the only thing standing in between me and this surgery.

HAD TO VENT! ANY ADVICE? OS IT NORMAL TO BE UPSET?

You, my dear, are on the right road. No reason to be sad! Sad would be if you just lived life without trying to improve your situation! Time will fly.

Keep your chin up and smile!

Hey the Laura's can't be wrong!! :)

Like she said the road can get long but it will end at some point. Just keep doing exactly what is asked of you and you will give yourself the best chance. I had a similar experience except it was ALL of my docs. I had to keep seeing a psychologist, exercise therapist, family doc and nutritionist for 3 extra months each. Not fun and expensive but it paid off. One I felt good and two I was accepted yesterday. You will make it.

My doctor told me the same crap! i will make sure we can do this for you asap! well! I ended up doing 6 nutrition sessions in 6 months (they didn't do a thing to help, couldn't actually is what that said after I agreed to everything!) my surgery was scheduled for 1/28 the Thursday before it was canceled it was denied by my insurance company my insurance doesn't accept my doctor or his facility as a center of excellence. Now tomorrow i am meeting with a completely new doctor in a different hospital! i have been going there for six month and was told they will take care of the insurance! My suggestion to you is not to listen to anyone call the insurance company yourself, find out what you need to do from them. I have united health care like a lot of people do and inside Uhc there are subdivisions like Uhc optimism (which is what I have) every subdivision has different requirement when the dr office saw Uhc they just assumed, and didn't look further into it like they said they would.... Look out for yourself and check don't let this happen to you

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
