Im looking for some helpful advice, I'm having a hard time with fatigue, I'm not excersicing yet because im exausted. my daily intake is 800 calories. I'm very weak, I'm dizzy and overall have no energy, is there any foods I should look into, or should I increase my calorie intake, in order to have more energy to exercise. I'm 6 weeks out , and try to get all my fluids in that seems to be difficult because I have to separate my food from liquid. any help will be appreciated.

I was in the same boat. I consulted with my NUT who told me to increase my carbs. That is what is needed for energy. I added cooked carrots and green Beans to my Soups, pureed, and it was almost an instant response.

Give it a try. It worked for me.

Jersey mentioned supliments. They're very important early out because we aren't getting enough from our small and limited food intake. Are you taking any? And if so, it might be worth your time to get a blood test check of your nutrients to see if you're low in B or D which can sap your energy.

Balancing your diet is also important (and easier said than done!). Some nuts think that keeping carbs down to nothing is great, others say don't count carbs as long as they're good carbs. Also, the liquids and Protein are important. I found I was having trouble when I wasn't getting in all of my fluids and Protein so I made a real effort to up them and it made a huge diff for me. Apparently a woman can't live on wine alone :P (but if you soak a chicken breast in it it's fair game)

Ok

Has your Nutritionist put you on any vitamin/mineral supplements?

Also, of your 800 calories, how much Protein are you able to get in?

I take a Multivitamin everyday and Calcium with vit D , Proetin is usually between 45-70

Maybe dehydration ?

I would add in a B-12 and an Iron supplement.

I can imagine how difficult it can be to feel fatigue with no apparent cause. I completely agree with Iggy about the supplements/diet, My NUT put me on Vit D and B-12 in addition to what you're on. Both Vit D and B-12 Deficiencies can cause fatigue. But taking them isn't an over night game changer. Both take a while to build up in your system and make a difference. Try changing up your diet, add in good carbs and track everything so you can refer back and see what works for you. That being said, some people just have different reaction to surgery overall. My sister and I both had surgeries around the same time, she was plagued with fatigue and I wasn't.

Dehydration could also be a factor, I've found I can get in more liquids if I add in a Vitamin Water Zero or herbal tea during the day. Both go down easier than Water for me.

Good luck, keep picking the brains of people here and consult with your Docs. Hopefully this will all turn around for you very soon

Hi there, maybe you can let your doctor aware, and maybe they need to check your blood work. I get dizzy and have low energy but i thought it was related to strees. My Iron levels were really low and I never knew, they put me on large iron dose before surgery to help, and will probably be back on it again. They also checked my thyroid level as well.

Also, 800 calories may not be enough for you, try if you can get it in more and see if that helps with your energy. Good luck and hope you feel better soon!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
