Waiting on insurance...and eating my last " normal for me meals"

Recommended Posts

I'm really pigging out. I'm trying to get my fill of my favorites diet coke and chocolate almond ice cream. I'll be glad when I get the noticed that I've been approved so I can schedule my surgery. I know I should be dieting now...but I'm sure gonna miss all this good stuff!

After being denied, I'm continuing dieting. I'm still doing well. I fear too well. If it ever comes around, maybe my BMI will be too low... oh well. There are worse problems to have.

you'll be able to have your favorites after you are sleeved in moderation. (after you are all healed and have progressed your diet.) I greatly regret the fact that I gained 11 pounds in the months before my surgery having meals "I would never have again" I truly believe I would be 11 pounds less at this point! Give yourself a head start. You will so happy you did! I eat anything I want including soda in small quantities!

You drink sodas!? Do you wait till they are flat to drink them? That is the one thing I will miss forever, I thought

I drink 2-3 sparkling waters per day (like Perrier), about 3 beers per week, and about the total of 1-2 regular Dr. Peppers per week. (I don't use artificial sweeteners) I waited for 3-4 (until I was healed completely) months to do carbonation. I have no issues!

I will be sad if I am denied ... I had to gain a few, to get to the 40 bmi. I feel bad, like cheating. But I have battled food since my first child 40 years ago. I thought insurance would approve if you were overweight enough and had the coverage? I have had fun eating just what I want since I decided to get the surgery. I know it is just more to lose.

That is the best news yet! I love my diet coke. Will your stomach let you know when you have had enough?

I totally understand where you are coming from. To answer your question liquids just go right through- even carbonated ones. I TRY not to drink when I am eating. I can't drink a lot if I am full. Does that answer your question? :-) I really hope you get approved... soon! Best thing I have ever done

I did the same thing.... I ate everything I wanted and could think of wanting while in the insurance approval stage.... I agree that it's probably not the smartest thing to do, but I didn't gain any weight... and now that I was sleeved a week ago and I'm on full liquids.. haven't had a bite of real food in weeks, I'm glad I had my food funerals. I'd hate to have deprived myself even longer! I say enjoy it while you can.. LOL (Just don't gain lots of weight!)

I'm sooo bad ... I confess I had to gain to get to 40 so I would meet the qualification

Just be careful. I had food funerals too, but still managed to lose weight, even prior to my preop diet.

People have strong feelings about whether or not this is healthy behavior. For me, its hard to say. I had Chinese "one last time" about three times, pizza, and Red Robin chicken Sandwiches all before I needed to start my diet. I still lost 8 pounds during this period of time though because I may have had one huge disgustingly bad meal, but it was all I had that day. Just don't binge eat all day every day, and be ready to stop this when you need too.

DO NOT get the sleeve if you think its OK to have soda after. You're wasting your time.

I'm not the confrontational type, but I have a serious problem with talking to people who are about to have this surgery as though carbonated beverages are something they should EVER be considering again. I get it - none of us are perfect, hell, I had a diet slip up yesterday so I'm not saying this to tear you apart, stir up anything or even invalidate your experience but the facts are that while we will always be able to go back to our favorite foods in moderation, carbonated beverages are something that none of us should really be having if we are going to have this surgery- ever.

FatMamaW, carbonated beverages are something you need to be prepared to say goodbye to if you want this surgery, and almost any surgeon will support that statement. Off the top of my head, as a medical professional, I cannot think of many other actions that are singularly as destructive to your sleeve as going back to sodas, and beers. Please educate yourself on this matter.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
