Hi All:

I am currently 6 months post op and have been just so tired. I have to peel myself out of bed in the morning and then when I am at work I just want to close my office door and take a nap.

Has anyone else experience this? I am fearful of a Vitamin deficiency... If you went through this fatigue please tell me if you had a Vitamin deficiency and what your doctor or NUT did to help you out. Did it get better? I will admit I don't always remember to take my Vitamins but I do take them more than not.

I just had 9 vials of blood taken to test everything so I will see my results next week. Just curious what others have gone through.

I too can relate to the "at the office shutting the door to take a nap" comment.... that crosses my mind all the time!!! I'm a little over 3 months out and go through periods where I'm tired.

I'm curious to hear your blood work results...

Hang in there...

Are you doing low carb? Carbs are quickly turned to glycogen which is the fuel our bodies use for energy. Weight loss may be slower, but for me, when I increased my carbs, I increased my activity as I had more energy. With increased activity, I was able to burn fat far more efficiently.

Give it a try and see what happens for you.

Hello:

I wanted to post a follow-up to my original post. I received my test results back and I only have a Vitamin D deficiency. I was recommended taking an additional supplement for about 2000 mgs a day. I do live in Chicago and the sun does not often come out during the winter months.

I asked my NUT about my fatigue and she said that I may need to eat more carbs! I have been doing low carb but have upped my workouts so my body requires more carbs for energy. She suggested healthy carbs like Beans. So PdxMan you were so right! I have upped my healthy carbs and do feel better.

Thanks so much!

I can't tell you the number of people I have made the suggestion to NOT do low carb with the sleeve and it has worked wonders for them.

Low carb = low energy = pathetic workouts = slow weight loss

decent carb = high energy = awesome workouts = great weight loss

It worked for me and dozens of others here. We can't use our old diets with our new sleeve and expect the same results. Everything is different now.

Don't be afraid to increase your carbs and activity. You will be amazed at how good you will feel.

PDX man, can you give me some good carbs I can eat at 4months? I've had some oatmeal and love Beans. Anything else? I feel guilty eating carbs or eating over 600 cal w this sleeve but I also get bouts of fatigue.

I ate veggie chicken Soup with loads of veggies. Onions, carrots, peas and Beans. Great carbs and lean Proteins. Ham and lentil Soup, too. Ask at your meat counter for hickory smoked ham hocks. Use onions and carrots here, too.

Basically, my meals consist of a lean meat and a cooked veggie. Salads are also popular with me.

This is interesting and I am considering raising my carb intake. What range of carbs do you consider decent?

That is a difficult question to answer. It really depends on your activity level and BMI, I think. I was around a 35 BMI when I started running almost daily with HIIT workouts. I was consuming >150g of carbs a day and losing like crazy. But, I was working out a lot and my body needed them to maintain intense workouts. If you're a couch potatoe ... It would be different.

Bottom line, if you feel listless, then up your carbs a bit and see how that feels.

Yeah, that was kind of a trick question. What you say makes great sense. By no means am I a couch potato but I certainly am not doing any HIIT. :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
