6 weeks post op and stuck, I could use some moral support

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on the Dec.17th , I am 6 weeks post op and have lost 41lbs, I am however feeling kind of sad because I seem to be stuck. I haven't lost any weight in a week and that scares me. I continue to drink 2-3 shakes per day, I snack on two Weight Watchers string cheese per day and I eat 2-3 oz of fish for dinner and I drink lots of Water through out the day. I feel like I am doing everything right and the weight is just not coming off. Any one else experiencing this type of issue??

Stalls are perfectly normal... if you search for stalls in this forum you will find MANY threads on other people expierencing the same thing. It's unfortuante to go through this, but after reading a lot of people's testimonies, it seems as if the body needs to go through this as a way to catch up and deal with the rapid weight loss.

Hang in there... it sucks, I know... but the weight will start to come off again.

That's a very good loss for how far out from surgery you are. I noticed when I had a stall my clothes still got more loose. It's totally normal to have these "stalls" we call them. The wt. loss will pick up again and slow again as you go through this journey. Just keep up with your liquids/protein and the stalll will lift...Good luck and it sounds like you're doing awesome!!! Keep us posted on your progress and ask questions, that's how we all learn from each other and compare notes!

Rockstarwife,

I was sleeved dec 19. Our weight loss is very similar. You are doing great. I also slowed for a while. I'm also still on liquids. I go for checkup tomorrow. I'm ready for the next phase!!!

I was sleeved on Dec 19th only lost 30lbs I have been at a stall for over a week. I feel great though and finally feel energetic and sleeping waking up and being awake. I am sure we will start losing again soon. Look at the positives and the numbers will drop before you know it.

Thanks everyone, this was my first post, since then I have lost 3 lbs!!! I also started actually using my membership at a gym yesterday! It felt so good to be back at it! It's been almost 8 years since I've really worked out consistently. Yeah, I didn't like looking at my reflection, but I just keep thinking, this is my temporary body! I will continue to loose weight and start to love my body again!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
