BigFatLoser 331 Posted January 30, 2013 ....FASHION. I love fashion. And, if I must say, I have really good taste! But I can't wear any of it. I lay in bed at night and browse through my Nordstrom app, shopping with my eyes. These last few years, it's the only kind of shopping I do. I don't even like leaving the house because I don't ever have anything to wear. I don't know how to shop for this body. I have a pair of black leggings and a black boyfriend cardigan that I wear that hides me well enough for times I need to go out. I don't even remember the last time I happily went into my closet and picked out something to wear to go out. Today I went to get blood work in one of my hubby's long sleeved tshirts and an old, too short, bleach stained sweat pants. I'm too young to not care. I love fashion!!! And I can not wait until I can enjoy it on ME!
SeriouslyChange 319 Posted January 30, 2013 I was there too. Post op is pretty f-ing amazing. I have a ball looking through my clothes because everything fits. I'm waiting to invest in a new wardrobe, it's pointless when you're still losing. I bought a pair of black pants for my company part January 8. Today they are too big. How far along in the process are you?

I'm already approved for surgery. All I'm waiting on now to get a date is for my thyroid levels to be in a normal range. They have to be under 5 and on my last check (two months ago) it was a whopping 43. I had the blood work yesterday and my fingers are crossed, but I'm not very hopeful. More than likely I'll have to have a med adjustment and wait another month for a recheck. Oh well. I'm approved. I'll get there eventually
SeriouslyChange 319 Posted January 30, 2013 I waited 6, almost 7 months. Got set back when I was told that I have sleep apnea. Had to use my cpap for 2 months before being scheduled. You'll get there soon! Stay positive!

My surgery is scheduled for April 9, I'm flying from Alberta to Mexico. Is there a chance that I will be turned down for my surgery because I have these 2 health issues? SeriouslyChange 319 Posted January 30, 2013 Do you have a cpap machine? How bad is your apnea?
Healthy&Skinny 33 Posted January 30, 2013 Hey, I do have a CPAP and I was diagnosed 2 years ago. I have moderate sleep Apnea, that's what the Dr. Rated it as. I stop breathing roughly 9-16 times per minute
SeriouslyChange 319 Posted January 30, 2013 I'm not sure if they would require you to wear your machine. I was sleeved at Kaiser and told the nurses who tried to put my mask on that I would rather not and they were fine. Perhaps pack your cpap just in case. You can carry it in a separate bag and it doesn't count towards carry ons because its a medical device I believe.
BigFatLoser 331 Posted January 30, 2013 As far as your thyroid.... No you won't be denied because of a thyroid issue. I don't know how other doctors will handle it, but mine wants my levels to be in a certain range before surgery for optimal weight loss. My latest level check is at 7.1. Needs to be under 5. So they're upping my Synthroid. No biggie. Almost there.

Is there a chance that I will be turned down for my surgery because I have these 2 health issues? I am going to Mexico as well for my surgery. Wondering if before you scheduled you fill out a patient health questionnaire?? If you have already disclosed your health problems I'm guessing it's a non-issue to your surgeon.
