2 1/2 weeks post surgery; weight loss stopped

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I'm about 2 1/2 weeks post-op, and I've been making the mistake of weighing myself almost every other day. The last few days, my weight loss has stopped (it actually went up a pound in a half one of the days). Now I know that a persons weight fluctuates every day, but I thought that the first month was supposed to be the month for the most weight loss. Since starting my pre-surgical diet until now, I've lost a total of 20 pounds, I know that's awesome, but no where near what I thought it was going to be for the first month. I've just really gotten myself down over this, and I can't go and drown myself in food like I could before I got the surgery, so I have to whine, lol. Can someone please give me their experience with weight loss the first month and beyond? I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much.

P.S. I have been sticking to the diet and the Protein drinks, but I haven't been very active at all. Most days I just take the dog outside, and that's about it.

Lindsay

I think my 12th day post op i stopped losing for four long days, then i started to lose slowly. Not sure why though, but you are not alone

I've read that it could happen, but it's mainly Water retention. As long as you stick to the Protein first rule and eating healthy, your body is still losing the fat and just storing more Water as it adjusts to the weight loss....I think I also read somewhere that changing up what you eat or increasing activity/exercise can help break through a stall.

Good luck.

No need to worry, I understand this is fairly common. I also lost 20+ lbs during the first 1.5 weeks then stalled. Into the 2nd week, the scale started going down again. Hang in there and good luck.
