How Many Calories 8 Months Out to Sill lose?

Recommended Posts

Curious how many calories post sleevers are eating 8 months plus post op to continue to lose? I started using myfitnesspal.com and set it for 1000 calories. I'm still not losing!!! I'm wondering if that is enough? Not enough? Can you post- sleevers weigh in!! No pun intended... haha :)

Thank you!

Really, the only answer is for you to track what you eat and find where you lose best.

It's different for everyone.

I could not lose unless I ate between 700-900 calories a day. Too little and I'd feel hungry, deprived and irritable and my loss would slow. Too much and I'd slow. It took a few weeks of very diligent tracking to see what my optimal window was and to stick with it.

In maintenance, that number is much higher for me. But again, I only found the right solution for me by tracking my intake and paying attention.

Good luck. Your loss should start to slow now, because you're much closer to goal. You've shed a lot of weight in a short period of time. I don't know that you necessarily need to do anything to make yourself lose again, unless you've been stalled for a month or so. Slow and steady - it always slows down once you have less to lose.

Im 9 months out and my calories are right around 600. I dont know if I would still lose if I upped my calories. What I have been doing is still working for me so I dont want to switch things up. Im 10 lbs from a normal bmi and have lost 174 lbs so far. If you want to add me on mfp my username is hollirrose. I dont know the right answer for you... But using mfp is a huge step in the right direction.

Oh wow! I don't think I could go as low as 600! I think I was taking in 600 a month after surgery. I guess because I still drink Protein drinks. Girl you are rocking that sleeve! I wish I could go that low but I really don't think I can. Congrats on the weight loss!! Incredible! :)

Looking at our sig it seems you're losing 8-9 pounds a month. I'm 8 months out and I'm losing the same so that seems about right to me. That's 2 pounds a week which is safe and healthy, and probably all you can expect being that far out. BTW I eat 1500 calories/day but I'm 6'2".

Yeah but it really has slowed this month. I've not lost any since I hit 195. I know there are stalls but I sure hope it moves soon! :) I'm eating around 1000 a day. Sometimes I go over and sometimes under but it averages out. I definitely won't lose 8 this month.

Sorry to hear that. Hope it picks back up soon. Mine is slowing down also. Unfortunately the farther out from surgery we get, the more calories we can eat, but out bodies burn less as we get lighter. At some point you either have to lower calories (which isn't reasonable) or increase exercise intensity, frequency or duration to burn more calories. I don't know what you're doing for exercise but if you've been doing it a while it may be time to mix things up a bit.

Its ok. :) I know I will get there. I sit and wonder where I will be at my 1 year Surgeversary! I'm so thankful for this surgery. It hasn't been easy but it has been easier than it was with out it. Now, I have to really work at it because I am getting back to being "normal" so to speak. I really need to up my exercise. I'm only walking. I need to do some strength training as well. I have 40 pounds to goal so I'm pretty happy!! :)

Lisa I'm right there with you. I'm 7 mo out and have hit a wall! I'm 40 lbs to goal too. I just upped my cals to 1200 from 900. I still do Protein Shakes as well. I am trying this for a week and see how things go. If no change then I'm just going to do my best and hope that by June (my 1 yr mark) I make my goal.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
