You really need to chew better. I am 2 years out and if I eat too fast, drink too soon or take too big of bites I always puke. Just remeber to slow down and chew your food well. You might want to keep notice of what foods is causing this. For me...i can not eat ANY stringy meat..like BBQ or pot roast. I always end up getting sick from it becasue it feels stuck. It took a while to figure it out for me. Good Luck!

It happened to me. You need to make sure the meat you are eating is not dry. It needs to be moist. Your sleeve may not be ready for chicken or steak. I am just five months out and I just started to eat chicken and steak. Has to be tender not dry eat small pieces chew good. Even now I don't get that many pieces down. What I do get a bit more Down of is taco beef and chili. It goes down a lot easier. Good luck don't push it your sleeve may not be ready.

I'd really like more details, such as

What is "anything"?

And what do you consider "little bits(bites?)"? How well are you chewing your food?

Judging by your surgery date, I'm assuming you've been on full solids for a couple weeks now. You should be swallowing very well masticated, tiny portions, no bigger than an almond(without the shell).

If that is what you are doing & still have problems swallowing then its time to see the Doc. You may have a fistula. It's basically where during the healing process the opening to your stomach becomes restricted. Whether it is due to a simple constriction or the healing process grew additional tissue there, I'm not sure. The good news is, even if you do have one, the treatment is a very simple in & out office visit procedure.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
