hi everyone!

First off, sorry i havent been on in so long. Life has been pretty crazy.

Anyways, I had my sugery in June 2010 when i was 18 years old. It is now January 2013 and i am 21 at beyond my goal weight. Thanks to family and friends. I will never regret having my sleeve done but i cant say id do it again. I have had so many health issues and mental issues from this sugery. Although, I am very blessed to have had the opportunity to have this experience... I didnt go about it the right way. I was 215lbs when i was 18 so my insurance didnt cover any WLS. I went to Tijuana Mexico. The experience was something I never expected to ever happen to me. But i will never forget it.

I havent gained any weight since surgery but i do have a hard time keeping it on.

If anyone has any questions or advice they would be willing to give im all ears :)

congrats to everyone on their success!

love ,

Casey K.

Hi,

Could you elaborate on the health and mental issues that the surgery caused you?

Also, what were your experiences in Mexico?

How did you go about it the wrong way?

Could you say what your eating and exercise habits are now?

Sorry for the questions but yours was a fascinating post and I'm sure folks will try to help you if they can.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
