My doctor told me I would have to crush any meds I take or get them in liquid form. Unfortunately mine don't come in a liquid so I have to crush them. They taste AWFUL!!! Does anyone else have to do this? Any pointers on how to make it better?

I put my crushed pill in with a teaspoon of light yogurt and it made it much easier to get down and not have the nasty taste.

My doc has let me take my pills since day 4 post-op. I'm 6 weeks out and have not had any problem swallowing pills.

Before my surgery, I was told all my pills would have to be crushed. However, the day after my surgery, my surgeon said I would NOT need to crush my pills. So I haven't and I've been fine (I'm 6 weeks post-op).

One note: I did substitute my Calcium with a chewable form and my multi-Vitamin with a Gummy form. I had already purchased these and didn't want to waste them.

Great idea! I'm going to try that with my birth control!

I don't crush my meds either. If they are the plastic capsules I empty it in my Greek yogurt. If they are like big horse pills I would crush. Anything else you should be fine.

that is probably one thing I started to hate most of all that I am told to do right now, I see my surgeon next week and I am hoping to be able to have regular pills again. I put mine in a spoonfool of friendhsip 1% cottage cheese and swallow directly down the hatch.

I was told that if the pill is thicker than the eraser on a #2 pencil I would have to either crush it or break it open if its a capsule. I have not had any issues with pills.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
