Hey guys new to this forum!!!! So I've been dealing with this process since June 2012.... I'm 26 years old, 5'5 weigh 217. I've had a hell of a time getting all the correct info from my coordinator which finally quit or got fired. So I got denied last month because I never did my 6 month diet and did not enroll into the biriatric program.... So I was like allright should be easy to complete right! So I had my pcp sign a form with complete 6 month diet info. And then tried to enroll in program. So have them all my info and they said there nurses are 2 weeks behind but someone WILL call me. Waited for a month and called them come to find out the UN enrolled me because now I need TWO cormorbites..... I was never told any of this info since June . I have diabetes did my 6 month diet ... sleep study and saw the phyco. So my next step is getting a attorney to appeal for me. Has anyone been though this before?!!

I have uhc but im 5'6 and almost 250lbs. My bmi is high enough that i dont have comorbidities my plan also doesnt require a pre op supervised diet. But what it does require is a 5yr history of obesity. Im worried about this because i have not had a doctor for 5yrs...i moved here to illinois from cali in 2007 and i rarely went to a doctor. In 2008 i was prego and saw my obgyn and ive been keeping up with my primary since then. Im pretty sure any doc i saw in cali doesnt have my files anymore anyway...sooooo worried its gonna hold me back!!!

Good luck with yours though! Im sure we will get it all figured out!

Well at this time I decided not to appeal with a attorney ..... I called my PCP and asked him to review my blood work and see if I was border line on any of my labs like blood pressure or cholesterol.... He said my cholesterol was borderline so I asked him of he could write a letter stating that and how it runs in the family..... So I called the bariatric program and tried to enroll again but they say it needs to be a medicated cormorbitity.... So I'm waiting for my dr letter to see if he stated its medicated ..... I've been calling everyday so see of he has written that letter and he hasn't.... It's been 2 weeks. Grrrrr I see my surgeon Monday was hoping to have it by then. But guess that was to much to ask. So I'm playing the waiting game like always! So I've been dealing with this for NINE months now. Hoping all the stress and waiting pays off soon.....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
