Geminidrive 389 Posted January 28, 2013 To all who had surgery outside of the United States, did anyone opt for Medical Tourist Insurance? Regular travel insurance doesn’t cover any trip where the purpose of the trip is to obtain medical treatment. This exclusion applies to every part of a travel insurance policy. For example, there’s no coverage for medical treatment, trip cancellation, travel delay, baggage, trip interruption, etc. if the purpose of your trip is to obtain medical treatment. For those who are still pre-op and have scheduled surgery, I would at the very least check it out. There are several sites that offer insurance, just Google medical tourist insurance. What jumped out at me is the coverage when you return to the US. I must say that I did not delve into it in depth, but thought it might be worth mentioning. As with anything, its up to you to READ THE FINE PRINT. Here is one site. http://www.sevencorners.com/insuranceplans/medicaltourism/Default.cfm Just thought I would share.
