mattsbelly 76 Posted January 28, 2013 I got a call from my surgeons office today who asked me to make a follow up appointment. I asked if everything was okay because I still needed to finish with the pulmonary doctor. She replied "you still want to have surgery don't you?" I said yes. But I thought that it still needed to be submitted to insurance. She told me that they had and authorization code. I am assuming that means I am approved. The surgeon needs me to come in and be "scoped". Which sound terrible.

mattsbelly 76 Posted January 28, 2013 I have BCBS. I wasn't even aware that anything had been sent to them. I guess that's a good thing because I would have been a wreck while I was waiting to hear back.
Geminidrive 389 Posted January 28, 2013 Call your insurance company or check your insurance company site online to verify that you are approved.

O.T.R. sleever 3,386 Posted January 28, 2013 Scoping isn't bad at all. They just send a camera down your throat to make sure you don't have excessive acid erosion that could cause problems after surgery. It's actually a good sign that they are taking that precaution. Many Docs don't.
Geminidrive 389 Posted January 28, 2013 Thanks Gemini, that seems so simple I feel a little foolish for not thinking of it!! No worries. I just prefer to hear it from the horses mouth or see it in writing.
mattsbelly 76 Posted January 28, 2013 Ok so here is the latest. I checked the mail after picking my son up from school. There was a letter from BCBS saying that not all the criteria had been met. I was all confused. After several phone calls, it was revealed that I was approved last Friday, and this letter was sent out before the surgeons office sent everything else they wanted. This was straight from the insurance company!!!!! I'm APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1 Keepgoing247 reacted to this
