What is you fav. type of music? Are you a disco chick or maybe a hippie or do you love the grand ol' opry? Tell us what you enjoy!

I like all types but am a Classic Rock/Metal person myself. I have been on a Elton John and Doors kick of late.

How about books? You like romance? a little sci-fi? Action-Drama maybe?

Me? I got enough books to start a small library (about 2500+ at last count with no doubles) With titles ranging all over the place :biggrin1: (None of that thinly disguised porn that some women like though :success1: :) )

Music - I'm a flop here - mostly relaxation music, a little motorcycle party music, and some country.

Books - culinary mysteries are my latest favorite. I just ordered 25 new ones and can't wait. I have gone through phases of cowboy westerns(Louis Lamour when I lived in 4 corners), si fi, mysteries, etc. I try to avoid scarey books - especially here. Alot of houses have been broke into within the last few weeks and I don't want to freak myself out.

I read alot since I don't have a television (my choice). Work, books, DVDs of sitcoms, and puzzles keep me busy. I pass my books on to others here since books are very expensive and difficult to get. I am jealous of your library....maybe when I return to US life.

I'm a CW girl all the way, except for really old rock and roll, from my youth, back in the stone ages.

I read a lot, especially biographies and historical fiction (more history, less fiction). I have really eclectic tastes in literature. I enjoyed Watership Down as much as Pillars of the Earth (Ken Follett) I loved the Dune trilogy (Sci Fi) and I'm a Stephen King fan.

My first love is and will always be Motown, R&B and Soul. However, the new music is too suggestive/crude and not very well sung and I ventured into New Country last year. Big fun! Songs that tell stories, surprises and twists -- what a hoot!

I love to read and prefer series so I can really get into the story and the world of the author -- sci-fi/fantasy -- Robert Jordan -Wheel of Time series, Kate Elliot - Crown of Stars series , Diana Galdabon - Outlander series [they call this romance, but it is really about time travel], Katherine Kurtz - the Deryni Chronicles series.

Historical Fiction -- anything by Dorothy Dunnett - I started with the Niccolo Rising Series

Mystery -- two female writers who are excellent are Karen Kijewski -Kat Colorado series and Julie Smith - SKip Langdon series

Stop me, before I get too wound up here!!

I like alternative rock, from back when alternative was actually an alternative to something. And alternative "variants". NIN, Pixies, LOVE the Femmes, SP, etc. I'm not as exclusive about this as I used to be. Pretty much unless it's country or "hard" rap I will listen to it. Currently in my changer: 311, Tears for Fears, Harry Connick Jr., Radiohead, Pulp Fiction soundtrack, Rammstein, Wilco, Velvet Underground.

After 8 years in undergrad and 4 in grad, I have a huge academic library of everything from classic literature (lots of American & British, some Russian, some native), philosophy, psychology and learning psychology works, geentics, etc. Those books take up our "reading room". Our home office is also lined with shelves full of random works. I don't go by genre, I go by whatever is good. David Sedaris, Katherine Dunn, Gregory Maguire, AJ Matthews, etc. Lots of King, some Koontz (weak dialogue, but once he gets going he can take you with him). Literally hundreds of random works because I never throw a book away.

You'll also find JK Rowling, because it doesn't matter if her reading can capture me or not. Anyone who can get millions of children to drop the joystick and pick up a book instead is going to get as much of my support as I can give.

I also have XM radio, and I love it! I keep mine on Top 20 or KISS. I thought it was commercial free also, but they are creeping in on KISS more and more, and I'm not happy about it....

I have read all the John Grisham books and the whole Left Behind Series except the last book. The LEFT BEHIND books are AMAZING and changed my life.

I listen to CW and a lot of relaxation and new age music.

Books, mostly a horror fan. Love King and Koontz. I do read other things as well, just depends on what catches my eye. Mostly fiction. Never romance novels.

I have very eclectic musical tastes. I love southern rock....Allman brothers, 38 special, lynard skynard. I love eric clapton and stevie ray vaughn. I love celtic music...maire brennen and loreena mckinnett. I love old rock...Janis joplin and cream......some country...I really like brooks and dunn, and toby keith. I also listen to alot of contemp christian music. My favs are casting crowns and Phillips, craig and Dean.

I am also a raging bibliophile. I have been a reader since I was 10 years old and it has ever been a trial for me to get rid of a book. I have thousands of books. Sadly, alot of them packed away in boxes that I haven't seen in years. My dream is to someday have a library room in my home.

I have every thing from nursing and college texts to those, "thinly disguised porn books" that "women" love to read. lol. :* :)

I AM a confirmed romance novel junkie, for many, many years and not embarassed to admit it. I also love Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Clive Cussler. I also love Kay Scarpetta and Karin Slaughter and Jan Burke.

I read alot of nonfiction books about my faith and spiritual healing. And I enjoy nonfiction history tomes. I am a history buff. I am a cookbook nut and also I have alot of decorating books. And of course, since I'm a nurse, I have a gaggle of nursing reference books on any and everything to do with critical care nursing.

I listen to everything from Keith Urban to JayZ. I also like old Motown (Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Temptations), the Beetles, Bon Jovi. I think I almost have all the American Idol contestants CDs. I just bought over the weekend: Fantasia, Taylor Hicks, Mario Vasquez, and P. Diddy.

I really don't read as much as I used to unless it's a textbook or on WLS. I like horrors and mysteries. I like V.C. Andrews, John Saul, Stephen King. Mary Higgins Clark, E Lynn Harris. I like books on history, autobiographies,

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
