Help, I can't stop eating

Recommended Posts

Don't worry. i as like that pre op....just two weeks ago. I wanting to eat all the things I wouldn't be able to again. The thing is...now that I am sleeved, it is a struggle to get all of my caloric, Protein and fluids daily requirements in. I am

not hungry and have to remind myself....Oh yea,...I have to eat. Enjoy your food. I later realized that I will be able to have whatever I want again....I just have to let my sleeve heal first and then everything will be moderation. My choices now are more nutrition based then want based. Good luck...you will do fine.

A lot of people go through this. I had a 2 week pre-op diet that I lost 20 pounds on, but the month before that was a complete free-for-all. I ate out 3 meals per day. I hate HUGE amounts of food (we're talking six Breakfast tacos). It was ugly. I gained 5 pounds. In some ways it was healing though. It got it out of my system. I was totally miserable, but once that 2 week point hit, I put it aside and moved forward.

It's odd. I've still binged (well, as much as you can after surgery - which is a lot more than you think if it's chips or something!) a few times, but it's never as satisifying. I like to think it's because of the head work I've done, so while I'm doing it, I totally know WHY I'm doing it and am able to talk myself either out of it or through it.

Obviously, I didn't get to 375 pounds because I was hungry. And I didn't get to 164 pounds now without doing a lot of work.

hello everyone, i am getting sleeved on January 31st and i can't stop eating all my favorite foods i won't eat again in excess. I have my days mapped out as to what i will be eating. this weekend i ate donuts (which i stopped eating years ago), kingcake, seafood buffet on fri and sat night. Monday i will eat buffalo wild wings , tuesday i will eat boiled shrimp, crabs and spicy boiled crawfish, that morning i will eat Ihop egg omelet. wednesday is the day i have to drink liquids after 10am.. i am getting nervous and i cant stop eating. i hope my poor eating habits isnt an indication that i will have trouble after getting sleeved. Has anyone else ate their favorite foods a few days before surgery? Good luck everyone, i hope i carve my cravings before surgery, lol.

It's called a food funeral. I live in New Orleans I started my pre op diet in October and every weekend my husband and I went our favorite places to eat and eat our favorite foods. Until the doc Rx pre op diet now we are on the strick diet I still had boiled shrimp lastnight it was in a salad. The only thing I missed is the king cake :/

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
