Hi there,

I am new to this forum. I decided to get information about the sleeve over the summer and have been going through the pre op clearance. I was a bit disheartened as I have some heart arrhythmia issues that need to be taken care of before the surgery. It looks like I am not able to get the sleeve until this summer. I know that it is best to head in healthy but it also has given me almost too much time on my hands because I find I get really nervous. I also have been trying to lose weight independently of the sleeve but being put on beta blockers and not only having the extra weight with exercising but that my heart goes into rapid rhythms puts a damper on that. Anyway, I think I was just looking to vent and my friends who do not have weight issues don't seem to understand. I would love to hear from people who have done the sleeve? What was the hardest part? Would you do it again? Also too, just an FYI, I have made my decision to do this surgery and although I know some people have horror stories as to why not to do it. Those are the types of stories I would rather not hear at this time as I truly need positivity in my life.

I am only a month post-op and had a rough recovery, but I would do it all over again. I had anxiety right up to the point they put me under. I laid in the pre-op room, surrounded by other patients and nurses, thinking, "What if I just got up and walked out of her right now?" But fortunately I had firmly committed in my mind that I was going through with it because I needed to improve my health and life. I realized that I couldn't do it on my own and just like someone with a heart problem, depression, or a serious disease, sometimes you can't get better on your own.

Congratulations on your choice and being a month out! I hope you are feeling better now. I agree I think the risk of not doing the surgery far out ways doing it. Where are you from?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
